Frosty the Snowman,
You should decide to go off the beaten track.....most don't get so very steep of deep so its just a cope of a red run in deeper snow..... and if the snow is very very good there is little that a bit of speed will not crap with a reasonable turn... the biggest defeat is not trying it becaseu you don't think you're up to it... Most of it is bollox and bull shiterein

My goals
1. To go at least 3 times
2. Not to have a wobbly (esp in vicinity of Easiski)
3. To have to bottle to tackle the race
4. To stay up past midnight
Someone pass the overdraft application, valium, body double & caffeine please.

My goals:
1. Pass my BASI Ski Instructor course in Argentina.
2. Spend as much time as possible on snow this winter, ideally another full season, ideally bumming rather than working.
3. Do some more telemark and be on the way to getting that signed off as a second discipline for ISIA.
4. Start some race training and get a feel for how much work I need to do to pass the Euro Test...
5. Attend one of the SnowHeads events as a way of drinking and skiing with like minded individuals.
6. Pass the Ski Club GB Reps course in December so that I have yet another way to drink and ski with like minded individuals.
7. Learn to land; taking off is fine, being in the air is fine, I just need to nail that last bit before it nails me.
8. Spend some time skiing switch, playing in a half pipe and trying rails...

Ski a 4th week (try EoSB if I can ) which means disturbing the delicate ballance achieved years ago in getting acceptance from non-skiing wife that I go off and leave her for 3 weeks per year.
Who are the like-minded steep off-piste bods at EoSB?

snowball,
The group was Snowcrazy who should have finalised by now, I'd have thought, BernardC, with appearances by Jonpim, Johnno, Lampbus...........
there were a few others but can't remember all of them. You get the gist, guided or unguided, nothing outrageous but the snow conditions were all over the place. Not at all bad for end of April, all the same

My goals for 2006/07:-
1) Get to Christmas without being an alcoholic.
2) Have a pair of skis that last a full season.
3) Put my photos/videos on vidilife.com as the season goes on, rather than after it.

Next years skiing goals
1) ski in Livigno for a week with ex-WC racer as instructor for lesson each day (take REAL skis instead of midget hire skis or let HIM hire me some - maybe not the latter as he wants me on 170cm and I am only 5'2" tall)
2) ski in Bulgaria for a week or two
2a) contemplate austria/france for a week if the boss can be conned sufficiently
3) ski in north america for a week or two... hmmm Colorado? Whistler? ....
3a) rollerblading lessons in Oz on return home to get ready for skiing
4) ski in Oz for a month or so... but take less lessons than 1 per day to decrease cost of season to around $4000...
5) Try to start running slalom courses??? maybe???? Must consult with instructor when home on this...
6) Increase improvement in short turns by really nailing it down and believing I can ski those turns! and continue the long ones on their long journey (this is what 1 is for) (Must get shoulder forward that fraction.... also don't force counter but don't NOT counter either... need to FIX this better... I am told I am starting to identify wrong and auto fix last season... now to nail it down this season... that should fix worst of inside ski issues from what I remember)
7) More comfy in more ski environments etc (2 should help this)
PRESSURE CONTROL... mine sucks.... as the WC guy demonstrated nicely by getting me to(unintentionally) launch self into air nicely on last day... must improve this LOTS... because I dislike launching by mistake....
then maybe somewhere in there start career change to enable working in ski resort earning (nearly) sensible money instead of peanuts...but still ski nearly every day

Charlatanefc, "3: Have lessons at the EoSB this time. " You booked them - I fitted you in, and you didn't bother to turn up! this year, everyone will have to pay in advance to make sure this doesn't happen. It takes a great deal of work to organise the ski school side of things.

4. Do a little more off-piste skiing following my brief introduction to it last year
5. Don't attempt jumps whilst skiing on B5s

easiski, that wasn't a catty remark. What I meant by it was, after hating group lessons in the past but seeing how much everyone enjoyed the group lessons and how their skiing came on with such good instructors (grovel grovel ), I would probably have a go at the group lessons next year. As I said to you that night, I genuinely wasn't aware that the lesson had changed (moved to the day before if I recall), and was practically next to you at lunch and nothing was said, so I had no reason to suspect any different.
I wasn't being facetious, sorry if it came over that way.

Have been threatened with having my ski trip taken away from me so...
To get away at all will be a result
When I get away I would like to grab some lessons as I've not had any for years (and I do need them)
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. Ski more than a week
2. Get confident Off piste
3. Maybe have a few private lessons to brush up my technique
4. Go a whole day without falling over (never managed that yet!)
5. Go to Switzerland (unfortunately, this is not likely)
