Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Don't the rental contracts normally specify that they are rented out with a full tank? So if you'd pre-booked and paid for the rental in advance they'd be in breech of their contract with you?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Sounds like a bad moment.

We normally carry 4 cards, 2 UK credit and debit cards for each of our UK and French accounts. Fingers crossed some of those work next week, we had better check our cash as well.

@davidof is right and once all the people who have been driving around with less than half a tank have filled up in panic there won't be the same demand.

I hope so. No petrol North of Grenoble tonight, every station was dry on my route home. Sad

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

There didn't seem to be any notable queues in Sallanches this morning, nor at that petrol station on the roundabout near the supermarket in Megeve. But in our blissful ignorance, unaware of shortages, we just thought it was too soon to fill a hired car so drove into Ferney Voltaire. Innocents abroad, we were. Not been watching telly and only listened to a few news headlines on BBC radio.

I did have enough cash to have paid in cash if necessary - but it was all "pay at the pump".

€19 refuelling fee + 23 litres @ €3.19 per litre (roughly double the current pump costs in Ferney-Voltaire)

They are charging 2.60 in Paris today, so maybe not so bad after all.
