Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Best early season resorts for beginners

As @Mjit, said - in late Nov/early Dec then you need to pick one that is open. The key point is that you should book last minute when you know where the snow is. High altitude places are PROBABLY right but the high resorts involve skiing over rocks so you need quite a lot of snow cover to make that work. Wherever you go will be quiet so no need to commit.

I had my first week skiing in VT. It snowed, and was white out conditions for much of the week. However, for a beginner, the sheltered beginner runs and shallow slopes were fine for me. Also when it snows it is usually warmer than usual.

I think it was beginning of March when I went, so the weather can be bad at any time of the season.

Most resorts will be good for beginners (especially complete beginners who will not move far from the bottom lift in the first few days) , it is what the intermediates and experts want that is more important! Laughing
