Thanks all for the excellent pointers as usual!
Loving the sounds of dog sledding and dinner in an igloo, think they'd love both those ideas. Last time we were there I think one of the ski schools were pro,outing an evening meal at the top of the Grand Rochette with a taxi ski back down afterwards - any ideas who this might be?!
Merci.

@boredsurfin,
basically all pretty much cosmetic, apart from Crozats upgrade, and the magic carpet "Angels" which takes you back up to the top of Arpette from the piste down from Crozats.
This will make skiing over the over side of Arpette much better

Wasn't this commissioned right at the end of last season? Is it now not definitely going to be open for the start of the season?

@chopkins13,
Yes, as far as I know officially opened at the end of March
@chopkins13, It never worked during last season despite being officially opened. Then it was working for a few weeks in the summer, you could take bikes up it but not come down on it and then it had to be closed as a pylon had moved! We went for a walk in the summer and rode up it fully expecting to come back down only to be met by a guy saying sorry, you cannot go down today, people were still coming up!
I rather think it is jinxed, last I heard the cables have gone and the pylon has been dismantled and is laying on the ground..
Almost needless to say, there is no official update.
From Perso La Plagne forum at end of Sept.

The @boredsurfin, is this just a french thing or are other ski resorts just as below average at commissioning new lifts?!
I really hope it's working by the time we come in March, we love a morning coffee in Montalbert but the ski back down to La Roche when it's icy fills me with dread!

@chopkins13,
IIRC this is the first new lift project that they've had serious problems with for a while, will have to see if Crozats goes smoothly or has problems as well. And yes, avoiding that long icy track to La Roche would be a real bonus.

@chopkins13, @eblunt, Hopefully its a problem that can be fixed before the season starts, when it was running in the summer it was fine. As you say anything is better than the crowded icy path down to La Roche, ironically when Coqs was running we used to choose to go down to La Roche as it was such a nice piste!

@eblunt, which piste are you referring to here? The red down to the inversions lift from above Arpette? I've always found that to be perfectly groomed, and although a bit on the narrow side, not quite sure why it's a red!

@eblunt, yes that's the one I was thinking of.
Must have caught it on a good day the couple of times I've been down there - I'm a below average intermediate who struggles on anything not motorway smooth so would have avoided if I'd known the risks of moguls!

@Dave of the Marmottes, They offer 2 days in each of the ski areas in France, hopefully the reciprocal agreement offers the same in their resorts in Colorado - Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin.
Would make a trip to Colorado even more appealing.
I've sent an email off to Vail resort to try to find out more.

No response back from vail resorts yet but found this at epicpass.com - https://www.epicpass.com/info/europe-is-epic/france.aspx
Which Les 3 Vallées, Paradiski, Tignes-Val D’Isere passes are eligible for the 6 free days at Vail Resorts?
Only Tarentaise season pass holders are eligible for the 6 days at Vail Resorts. Tarentaise season pass holders receive a max of 6 days total at Vail Resorts ski areas with a max of two days per resort.
How do Les 3 Vallées, Paradiski, Tignes-Val D’Isere pass holders pick up their lift tickets?
Eligible pass holders are required to present their Tarentaise season pass as proof at a season pass office in Vail, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb, Breckenridge, Keystone, Park City, Heavenly, Northstar, Kirkwood or Stowe during the winter 2017/2018 season. Guests will be issued a multi-day lift ticket loaded onto a hard card pass, with photo. This card can be used at any of the eight resorts valid, including Arapahoe Basin. While it will be valid for skiing and riding at Arapahoe Basin, International pass holders cannot redeem their full day lift tickets at Arapahoe Basin.

Hi @eblunt, you wrote "It would mean that via Arpette, Crozats and a New Inversens, they'd be an good alternative for getting up to Roche de Mio"
I don't think that is possible unless you walked back thru the tunnel from the Belle Plagne side and skied off piste between the 2 pistes, that is, unless the new Inversens is going to start in a new place.
@Charliee, my recollection is that from top of Crozats you can ski down to bottom of Inversens. That was always an option to get to Roche de Mio when coming over from Les Arcs once you reached the top looking down to Crozats. Whether to go Carroley (when it existed) and down from that top to catch the Roche De Mio gondola at bottom or halfway, or to go for Crozats and take the path from it across to bottom of Inversens. Never did it often enough in timed conditions to work out what was the faster route although with an upgraded Inversens next season that would become the obvious choice.

@SteveM, Yes, but be aware The Marmottes piste (red) Crozats to Inversens, is often closed due to avalanche risk and quite often when it is open its a case of picking your way though the avalanche 'rubble' and/or a couple of steep and narrow mogul sections. I guess you could say its a proper Red - I'm a bit surprised its not marked up as a black, although it is regularly pisted.....
@boredsurfin, I agree that it's often closed due to avalanche risk but I always recall it being a well groomed windy track round the mountain. Odd.
The other alternative to the Roche De Mio is to go up Blanchets and Carella. Two not especially quick lifts but an alternative nonetheless.
