Come on! I don't exactly LIKE to sleep in the same room with men I don't know, middle age or otherwise!
Except, I can't think of any good excuse NOT to if that's the expectation, well...at least no excuse that could convince myself, so I wouldn't think it'll work too well when trying it on others.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

HeidiAmsterdam, Great report on a beautiful area many of us snowHeads know and love.
Just one question - what happened with your pre-paid car hire voucher, did you just write off the money you'd paid?

good question. I wondered that - but the alternative train journey sounded excellent. Italian trains are good, and not expensive.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Actually, I don't mind too terribly much sharing a room with another woman (as long as she doesn't snore).
Obviously, there's less space when there's another in the room. But as long as that's proportional to the reduction of lodging cost, I'm perfectly happy with the trade off.
Sharing with men is something I only do if there's no way around it (like in a mountain hut), even though I'm no longer a 11/12 year old.

On the car voucher, I called the next morning and tried to switch the voucher, but those were expensive options, and the customer service rep advised me to just take the train, and that actually she doesn't advise customers to use that company (makes me wonder why they do business with them in the first place!). I had to pay for 3 days rental, and they refunded the rest.
I was satisfied with this. That cost me 66 EUR.
By the way the car rental company was Sicialian Car Rental or something like that. Name says it all really. But when I booked it, it said Thrifty Car Rental, which in my mind was a trusted name, turns out, this Sicilian Car Rental company just hangs the THRIFTY logo up, and calls it good. Was quite an eye opener for me...

I would say 90% of the skiing was with the group. And we had a nice group, and it was fun to ski together. Don't know how that would pan out if you didn't like your group...
Said men sleeping in our room for that one night were not from our group - had it been men from our group, I think the after taste would have not been so sour.
