Kostelic has said he will continue while he still has fun racing, but most people think he will retire this season IF he makes it through the whole season.
Reinfried Herbst has announced his intention to retire at the end of the season.

Tina Weirather has announced her retirement today. A pretty solid career all said.

“After a long career in ski racing, Cortina was going to be my last show, I had it all planned out and I was going to win that race,” Myhrer joked on Instagram.

Wikipedia has a list that mainly covers the retirees we have already noted, as well as:
- Fritz Dopfer (confirmed)
- Ana Drev (no sign of this elsewhere)
- Christina Geiger/Ackermann (confirmed)
- Nina Haver-Loeseth (confirmed)
You know it makes sense.

Ana Drev finished her career for sure. She announced it several weeks ago, so it's 100% sure thing.

Hanna Schnarf has called it a day after 25 years, although I don't think she was able to start a race last year. Veronique Hronek has also packed it in.

A few more retirements of note:
- Rowan Cheshire has retired from freestyle skiing due to injury.
- In cross-country, Astrid Jacobsen has retired and Stine Nilsson has switched to biathlon.
- Elena and Nadia Fanchini have both retired, as have Matts Olsson, Andre Myhrer, and Elia Zurbriggen.

I wonder who will be next - Ligety is looking quite likely, his last podium was 2018, it doesn't look like things are improving for him - very hard to see though another specialist coming through for the US which would push him out.

@extremerob, Ligety isn't the top ranked GS skier for the US, Tommy Ford is 5th on the WCSL.

What I meant was that it doesn't look like his place is being challenged on the GS team
@Corky, you're probably right - though he isn't showing signs of slowing down - wonder if he leaves on a high note or try's again next year and has a potential Olympic place?

Doubt he has many years left but it would be fantastic if he could bag a medal before he retires.

Well that didn't take long - Anna Veith is pregnant. Congrats to her & Manuel.
Well, she’s been racing in the WC tour for 12 years, got married a couple of years ago, had an indifferent form on the WC circuit for 3-4 seasons and has clearly worked bloody hard getting back to, or near the top again.
Of course there’s more to life, but after a long career, and still being relatively young (29), I just reckon that’s what she’ll do....it’s only an opinion...
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Cacciatore, its certainly an option for her I guess, it's just the statement that she will that grates with me. I know very few people of my age who have children, never mind the younger generation who seem less likely to have them or put it off for a good while. Lindsay Vonn hasn't settled down and had kids
No, it was an opinion that she might, not a statement that she will. Besides, what’s wrong with deciding to settle down and have children....? If it weren’t for those that do, the outlook for humans might begin to look a bit grim . It’s a noble thing, surely.
Not sure what Lindsay Vonn has to do with it...surely, as she’s retired already, her name should only be mentioned in this particular thread in an historical context.

@Cacciatore, I dont want to argue with you over it, being a mate and all that but you did explicitly say 'Out on a high and then settle down and have kids.'
Nothing wrong at all with doing it for those that want to and thankfully plenty do, but a bloke making an assertion she will...well not so much. Probably goes back to a stranger in a pub (back in the 80s) calling me an unnatural woman when I said I didn't want kids
I mentioned Lindsay as historical context, as you say.

I could see pressure increasing to boycott the 2022 Winter Olympics if they even go ahead, people might choose to retire if they don't still have that as a target.
The French racer Joséphine Forni retired this week at 26, the hint is that this was due to not being selected for the World Championships. I'm guessing that France has picked younger racers to try to improve their FIS points and start positions, if other countries do the same there could be other retirements to come.

@holidayloverxx, as you say, not worth falling out over....(the comments were ever so slightly tongue in cheek), in any event, given that I called Julienne Lizeroux to retire (settle down and have a family, possibly ) several years ago and was quite off the mark, I’d imagine we’ll have Lara gracing our racing networks for awhile yet, thankfully.
