Kitenski, according to the website they are hoping to run tomorrow, Tuesday. Too early to make a decision about Thursday/Friday though the long range models look good at the moment. It will also depend on getting our Engineer up there but he's just come off his skiing holiday so may be ready again to operate his own tow !
Check again tomorrow night and there may be an indication about running later in the week. We don't really need any more snow to operate, though new snow is always nice,

There's always room for more snow - especially given the amount thats been pushed around recently.
If were still doing a proper winter all that hit the eastern side of the states should come this way - not that that's been the case for years but it would be really good if it did again. We'd keep going for months!

oldagedpredator, yes, we usually get the remnants of east coast storms about two weeks later - given they've just had 60 cm, that should bode well for late feb. Sadly, we seem to be getting Siberian weather, today's a north easterly wind.

It always was that way in the 80s bit of a frustrating lack of from in the last 15years or so from that weather pattern. Snow laden air from the west hitting dry air from the east - we couldn't possibly get two large powder dumps in one season, could we

Long term it seems the next couple of weekends atleast are on the cards. I'm switching from backing meteogroup forecasts for Great Dun Fell to Netweather.tv for Nenthead. Purely based on that showing more chance of snow over the next 16 days. No logic just optamism!
Or we could all go to Harwood , less walking!

Was at Harwood on Saturday. Brilliant conditions able to ski all sorts of fresh lines in spring snow, a little less walking, no lift queues, very friendly bunch of guys up there. You do know you've had an upper body workout on the lift though. Sure to be on the pennines again this weekend, venue to be decided depending on conditions. It would be nice to get back to weardale though.

I could do with some more weardale time - mainly in the gully. The yad moss chute back to the car park from the tow is fun but a little warn in places and you have to walk back up. It bit of fun at the end of the day though.

I see the weekend is arriving again and that means....more skiing
The wind looks to be staying light once again though visibility may not always be the best. Some possibility of further snow on saturday night/Sunday which may make Saturday the better day conditions wise. Looks to be getting windier during half term but staying cold with further snow.
Webcam looks superb today with the bare patches now covered by yesterdays cosmetic dusting. there may also be some small drifts to push about.

Yep, I'm in. Dun Fell long range is showing moderate snow on monday and then snow right the way out as far as it can see. Weekends 9, 10 and 11 on the cards? - I think we deserve it!

oldagedpredator, listened to the yad moss hotline the other day and they said that although there was good cover, they weren't planning to open due to lack of skiers! Has the initial rush faded and are you still getting crowds at weekends?

Kristof, as soon as the snow dissappears in the towns the big crowds stop skiing. Its the same in Scotland. However the weekends are still busy enough and we've been getting around a 100 skiers on Saturdays and Sundays since January, which is a comfortable number.
We carn't run everyday because of a lack of operators so we tend to run on weekends or midweek days whenever we can get a team together. The Plan is to run right through the half term next week but whether we do or not will depend on the wind, the roads and not breaking anything important.
Light wind is forecast for Saturday and Sunday so we hope to be operational both days. Always check the forecast and website the night before and ideally in the morning, if planning a long journey

Apparently there was a very low turn out on Tuesday - 30ish people. Week day operations are down to 3-4 people, who also do weekends, albeit with the larger pool of us weekend volunteers. We're coming up to the 9th weekend of opening in a row and its a fairly major commitment form the week day guys to keep turning out. Everything else goes on hold but that can only happen so long. The plan is to open the whole next week subject to the usual weather / snow / operator availability - definative word is always the website. Its a tricky balance either commiting to set opening days and then getting low turn out if the weather is bad or just opening on the good days but that makes it harder for skiers and boarders to plan a trip. The cover is very good - the top webcam gives the best indication of this.
Numbers do drop off when there is less snow lower down - last weekend peak Q time on Sat was around 8mins down from 22mins at start of Jan. A lot of the day it was 2-3. Sunday there wasnt a Q, weather was much worse. Yesterday may have brought good numbers because it was clear and sunny but today might not as the cloud is down again. Its just balancing it all out. Our main tow engineer has also spent most of the last 4 months at Yad Moss - there was a good 6 weeks before the snow came when the tow line was being replaced.
Ultimately there are a lot of people who come to the pennines to ski now who dont realise how long winter can last up here given the right conditions - this is more typical of how it used to be. A bit of heavy snow in the lowlands and pennine numbers will rise again but for now they are comfortable at weekends.

Right, no pics for a while as nothing much had changed - we fancied a bit more snow, we got it. Refresh of the base always welcome, mucks up the depth calcs a bit but. All the fences area about 1.1m high so you can work it out.
Half term, weather looking good - treat yourself and bunk off work.
This was Sat 13th and its snowed again since then, several times.

Today's report now on winterhighland with some pics. Rest on flickr some time next week
http://www.winterhighland.info/publicreports/index.php?50,2015
General summary, good area coverage with 1-2" of powder overnight. Coverage in acres. 11:30 rule likely to be inplay for day tickets over weekend - check the website.
Weardale and Allenheads still closed to day members.
Harwood open to day members (website says tow open from 10:30) - coverage and conditions same as Yad Moss. Latest pics (17th Feb 2010) from Harwoodski on their website.

rich.p, Don't forget (AFAIK) these are all areas run by volunteers who presumably have 'real' jobs too. It's not surprising it sometimes takes a day or two to update.

Had to suffer the webcam update - just in time for lunch - from snow report for Yad Moss we'll have to call this one Champagne Tuesday. Powder on Powder on Powder on base no wonder they had it down as one of the best days ever. Fences, I see no fences!

Weardale was good today.
Thanks to all who arranged for the snow to settle on the moor, but not on the roads. No sign of the ruts !
I'd swear they must have snow cannons hidden away somewhere.
French being spoken at Yad Moss ? possibly Canadians looking for decent conditions that week ?

Its very cosmopolitan you know. Multilingual in French, Polish, Cumbrian, Geordie, Yorkshire, Lancsahire, Lowland Scots.......we need one of those perfume type signs, along the lines of
......MEGEVE.......ZERMATT.......CORTINA D'AMPEZZO......YAD MOSS

Peter S,
Dunno if it's that cosmopolitan over the other side. I knew a chap from Edmondbyers who claimed he found the Geordie accent hard to understand. I think he was a Weardale regular, but wouldn't go to Yad Moss "Fower wor hovvent had th'nocculayshuns".
