@bambionskiis, Are you talking about vaccination letters for fully vaxxed teenagers?
Copied directly from the Government website, note the line 'Vaccination, convalescence and test certificates are equivalent if they are issued in Latin script in German or English.' I would say that your letter would comply but I am not the person who needs to decide. Maybe you could ask the Austrian Embassy
Information about the coronavirus Coronavirus - Frequently Asked Questions FAQ : Entry into Austria
October 11, 2021FAQ : Entry into Austria
What is valid as proof of entry in terms of the 3-G rule?
Medical certificates serve to prove that the person named in the certificate
a molecular biological test ( e.g. PCR test) or antigen test tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 , or has received a corona vaccination, or recovered from an infection with SARS-CoV-2 .
The products must be in accordance with the in Latin script in German or English language Annexes A or B available. The validity of the respective proof can be found below.
Vaccination, convalescence and test certificates are equivalent if they are issued in Latin script in German or English.
Test results lose their validity for entry if the sampling at the time of entry for a molecular biological test ( e.g. PCR test) for SARS-CoV-2 for more than 72 hours or for an antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 for more than 48hoursHours ago. Antigen tests for personal use, which were digitally recorded by the authorities, remain valid for 24 hours.
In the case of regular entry (commuter traffic), test results are valid for seven days when entering from a state or area in Appendix 1 . If the entry is from another state or area (not on Appendix 1 or Appendix 2 ), all test results are valid for a maximum of 72 hours.
As vaccination record a document is on vaccination with an in Annex C mentioned the COVID-19-entry regulation vaccine when the following conditions are met:
Second vaccination, whereby this must not be more than 360 days ago and at least 14 days must have elapsed between this and the first vaccination, or21 days have passed since vaccination in the case of vaccines for which only one vaccination is planned, whereby this must not be more than 270 days ago,Vaccination, provided there was a positive molecular biological test ( e.g. PCR test) for SARS-CoV-2 at least 21 days before vaccination or proof of neutralizing antibodies before vaccination, whereby the vaccination must not be more than 360 days ago, orfurther vaccination, whereby this must not be more than 360 days ago and at least 120 days must have elapsed between this and a vaccination according to the three points mentioned above.
Proof of recovery is a medical or official confirmation of an infection with SARS-CoV-2 that has survived in the last 180 days , which has been confirmed by molecular biology ( e.g. PCR test).
A proof of neutralizing antibodies , which may be no older than 90 days.

Missed this earlier but noticed when @Scarlet commented how unclear it is, posted elsewhere
I don't think Google translate helps but the important take aways are:-
1. You don't need a code on an app to prove status, just a certificate in German or English.
2. Vaccines are valid from 21 to 270 days if single dose (J&J not single jabbed teenagers) or 360 days for 2 dose vaccines or maybe more relevant for parents of teenagers who have tested positive, proof of a PCR positive test more than 21 days before a single dose of Pfizer etc.
3. Proof of infection within the last 180 days or a positive antibody test less than 90 days old.

From what I have read this morning, Tirol (and other states) are tightening the rules for access to bars & restaurants (other things too like going to work but not relevant here). From what I understand (but might have got this wrong) access is now only 2G, certainly for any "apres" type venues, not clear to me if it is all bars & restaurants. The concerns are driven by the rising number of hospital admissions by younger unvaccinated people and people over 60 who have had their second jab over 6 months ago.

Two jabs are no guarantee anyway: I caught Covid about 3 months after my second dose (so I now have 2G "cover"). Booster due in November (as am 60) - I'm mostly interested in actually being able to ski for the first time in 20 months in December in Obergurgl.

The new regs are from 8th Nov. FFP2 masks are being brought back in for everyone in all retail, museums, libraries, hospitals etc. Restrictions on access are for those who have not been vaccinated/recovered (2G) and currently only affect nightclubs and large events (over 500). However, aprés ski follows nightclub rules, so it will apply there as well. Normal bars and restaurants are unaffected, for now.

I'm not sure any country will do now though I think the top level (600+ beds?) is effectively a lockdown for the unvaccinated.

I must admit I am still a bit confused. I have a teen with one jab. No recovered cert. what do I need to get him onto the ski lifts and restaurants as it stands today?

@Matrix, today, an antigen test in the last 24hr or a PCR test in the last 72hr. If you can get him a certificate of recovery (assuming he's had it), then that exempts him from testing.

@Scarlet, thanks. I assume antigen are available in person at a number of locations generally? But these are not the type you take at home yourself (lateral flow in England)?

@Matrix, if he has had it and you can get an antibody test that is good for 90 days. If he has had it before a single vaccination that counts as fully vaccinated in Austria. Antigen tests and PCR test are available at many locations but they do need to be paid for at a pharmacy or Doctors if you are not resident. There are test centres where tests are free and I expect resorts / lift companies to provide free testing. I'm not sure if self tests are still acceptable but as of next week I'm sure they won't be.

Yes, the test is the same type, but a doctor performing the test is what makes it valid. The self-tests are being phased out anyway. There is talk of expanding PCR testing as this is not yet that widely available, and I am sure that resorts will expand free testing infrastructure into the winter.

More generally, it feels like a repeat of last October with cases rising rapidly and rules changing on an almost daily basis. If Austria has a coherent corona strategy, I am unsure as to what it is Federal govt moves too slowly so a lot of the new regs are being made by panicking local governors, which is why they vary across the country.
Tourism reps are pushing to ditch the stupid traffic light system (it is meaningless, but causes a raft of cancellations every time it changes, and it is currently only going in one direction), and bring in tighter access restrictions (2G) which would make testing infrastructure in resorts obsolete anyway. They reckon 85% of their guests are vaccinated and so would be unaffected, but this wouldn't be much use to Brits with unvaccinated teens.

@Scarlet, thanks again. Always good to hear what’s actually happening.
I can handle the testing (as long as it doesn’t result in a positive test!).
Question on the antibody tests. Is this only valid for someone who takes the test before any vaccine is received?

The current strategy is the five-level plan based on the number of intensive beds occupied with Corona patients. Austria is about to enter level 3 which removes antigen tests. So to use hotels, events and gastronomy one would need to show proof of vaccination (either two vaccines, or one vaccine plus prior infection), proof of recovery within the last six months or a negative PCR test within the last 48 hours.
Level 4 removes the testing part of the 3G rules and then level 5 is a lockdown for unvaccinated people.

@Mankei, Yes, that is the plan, but what is the end game here? Is it to get more people vaccinated? Valid, but doesn't seem to be working and the campaign was always poor. Is it to lower infection rates? Masks might help here, but otherwise it assumes only those without a vaccination or recovery are carriers. Is it to keep people out of hospital? Probably, but it doesn't really stop the unvaccinated from getting infected. The policy does not have a clear direction, and that is becoming more obvious with the rapidly increasing rates.
Some municipalities have already cancelled their Christmas markets. Outdoor events that already have a corona policy in place. Their is either little understanding of how transmission occurs, or no faith in the policies working.

I’m off to Tux on 6th Nov so I’m glad I’ve got myself a box of 10 FFP2 masks to go on with, I know you can buy them there but at least I’m prepared and they weren’t overpriced.
Good to see there’s snow in the forecast too I’m delighted just to be going after missing last season.

@Scarlet, the plan is entirely about keeping hospitalisations from Covid as low as possible.
|
|
|
|
|
|
And my understanding is that as ICU occupancy increases the restrictions are increased but the restrictions are only applied to those who have chosen not to be vaccinated. It's certainly an incentive to be vaccinated.

So, my interpretation is as follows. We are 2 double jabbed adults. Kids unvaccinated aged 6 and 10. Staying in a hotel in Zauchensee.
Adults will need proof of vaccination. I’ll have it on the app and print a few copies.
Adults will also need an FFP2 face mask for ski lifts, restaurants, transport etc.
Kids will need any face mask for ski lifts.
Can see face masks being a pain for the kids. First time they’ve ever been skiing, so extra faff and cold hands etc.
Still, if I’m reading the above right, we should be okay for our trip. Nothing too restrictive there, so long as unvaccinated kids under 12 are still free to enter Austria with us.
|
|
|
|
|
|
@Pippo9, unvaccinated kids are free to enter Austria with vaccinated parents so no problem there. No idea about quality of masks required for kids but they will only be required on closed lifts anyway and if it's their first time will be the instructors problem anyway . While I am not an expert on Zauchensee I would imagine they would be in the valley the majority of the week anyway.

The policies actually make sense : if the goal is to keep the ICU beds free, then you have to get almost everybody vaccinated or to limit the number of unvaccinated getting sick. The vaccination reduces the chances of severe illness even after the 6 months period. In order to return to some kind of herd immunity they will have to give the third vaccine to a significant number of people. In Israel "fully vaccinated" means 3 doses, right now. Double vaccinated people than do not get the third dose lost their green pass, so that may be happening in the future

Enclosed lifts is most lifts in Austria - bubble chair lifts are “enclosed”.

@buchanan101, not for young kids learning in the valley! They certainty won't be using a gondola for every run as first week skiers, there is more likely to be a discussion about whether a covered magic carpet is enclosed

Didn’t say gondolas. Said bubbled chairs. Yes most resorts will be ok for first time kids for the first few days. I’m guessing Saalbach could remove it’s bubbles on its nursery slope chair?

Austria may be about to enter Level 2. As of today 273 ICU beds are occupied by COVID patients and Level 2 is seven days after 300 ICU bed occupancy is reached.
That’s nationally. Local states/regions seem to be making up their own rules as well.

It has been reported that levels 2 and 3 are going to be merged (because there is a delay of one week built into level 2, by which time we’ll be at level 3). Hopefully federal govt will sort out the rules so they’re uniform rather than being a regional patchwork.

There is something in the regulation about not needing to comply with 3G regs if you are using the lift as a means of transport for daily life but masks are still required.
