Perfect aside from all the people! Went over to Lech and Warth today and remembered why I haven't been up the mountain New Year week since my first season....

Surely folk go to St Anton to ski St Anton not yo dpend sllday on the bus & lifts getting to some ski area that on a par with Seefeld!
At least you get value ouy of your €40 pro tag lift ticket. Haha.
They built that lift so the intetmediates could access the more challenging Arlberg terrain not the other way round.
That will be the same for Kappl tourists but my undrrstanding that Projektdias is on a long term hold now thanl goodness.

I was heading up the Nassereinbahn just after 9am, so from the sounds of it, not that far behind sah. Already several bus loads of people waiting when we got to Rauz. Bus back from Lech just after 2 as didn't fancy Happy Valley any later than that, was interesting enough as it was!
Judging by the queues at the Warth-Lech link, there are a lot of people who are using Warth as an alternative place to stay and be able to ski Lech. Some nice pistes in Warth from what we saw so will be heading over again in a week or two when everything's quietend down.

Sitter, I'm doing exactly that, reasonably priced place to ski local AND big routes in Lech/Zurs. We are staying one week Warth early March principally to ski Zurs and Lech properly, with a few turns in Warth clearly. I'd never choose to stay in Lech/ Zurs too pricy/ glitzy etc, but having been to Warth in summer walking and mtb-ing for a reccy really liked the place. From Warth it's super quick to Oberlech, normally by tge time we've done the White Ring and got round to the big routes its time to be thinking of home and back to St Anton.......this will be a great week and I'm looking forward to it, then driving round to St Anton for a similar concentrated week locally.
Sitter, sah, I'd be interested in any Warth hints/ tips re OP lines/ routes. I've got the maps so given a sketchy description can piece it together. Cheers guys.

Will let you know, wasn't easy to work some bits out yesterday as there are a number of pistes that aren't yet open. We saw a section and thought "that looks like it might be some nice, easily accessible off piste" and then upon looking at the piste map, realised that it would normally have a black run going down it... Will try and get some vids and pics too, and hopefully we 'll get more snow.

Oh Im sorry, I thought it was a Sport!
I got it all wrong, if i wanted a Holuday i would be on the beach in Malaysia relaxing

Yeah, that's the whole point of my post. For you, it is sport, and not relaxation (apparently). It's different for different people. I, for instance, think you can have both. I am an expert snowboarder, and certainly enjoy split boarding my way to a peak, and riding back down in deep pow. However, I also enjoy wellness at the hotel, and having a nice dinner. You know what? I might even take a day off during the week to do something different. It's not a competition for me. However, for some it is. That's cool.....

Markymark29, Similar to Sitter, didn't really get well oriented but there looks like a lot of good o/p when the snow arrives. Lots of north facing slopes, trees, gullys, easy to get to, no obvious cliffs, so well worth exploring for a day. If it was really dumping I'd be happy to be stuck there if links were closed.
The run down to the link lift (Auenfeldjet) is S facing so was not great this week, but with a good covering it would be a wide open powder slope. Some nice options down towards Lech if you don't mind a short skin up to get to the lift system, that way also avoids queues... otherwise if you are planning to go to Lech I'd get to the Auenfeldjet early, it looks prone to queues going to Lech in the morning. On the way back get on the gondola at the top of the Weibermahdbahn to jump the queues at the base - the cabins have to go all the way around the full lift system anyway.

Do I need to have you run me through a test, or something? Get over yourself, stanton,. If you can't accept that your version of skiing is not everyone else's, then that's your problem.

Ok folks.
Beautiful morning on the hill. Quietest day of the Peak Season to get some very early morning turns.
Next week maybe Sunday evening change in weather. Looks like a strong westerly front (Perfect for Arlberg) will bring fresh snow Monday.

It's a holiday, recreational activity and a sport. Not everybody is in a position to be able to participate in the sport on a regular basis, hence taking a holiday to be able to do so.

poo-poo....................... I just checked in for a snow report, not some d1ck waving.
St Anton...................... aka C0ck city.
stanton, what's the snow like in Zurs/Lech/Warth? I'm hoping to get out to either the Arlberg or Aosta next week/week after depending on the snow. At the mo it's no competition with the snow depths at Gressoney being 90/200 cms.
Snow in Warth is pretty thin, if anything its got less cover than St Anton. If Gressoney is reporting 200cm I'd say it was a much better bet unless a major storm moves in soon.

Hello, I'll be in Lech for the Jan. 18 to 25 period.
Does anybody have information about the new Warth terrain, specifically:
- Lift queue length and time spent riding the transfer lift from Lech?
- Ski terrain in the area visible from the Lech side.
- The trail map shows some on-hill restaurants - any experiences - price, waitperson or self-serve, etc?
Thanks.

I am very reluctant to get my new splitboard out. I don't want to rip it to bits this early..........

futurecut,
If your going off piste your need your rock skus or board.
We need a min of 0.5M to even begin to fill the ravines, streams & gullys.
Anyone heafing off piste now is taking big risks.

Snow is now falling at resort level. Hopefully it'll keep going enough to help the off piste, as Stanton says, you need rock skis/board. Friend of mine, who should know better given that this is his third season in the Arlberg, has wrecked a couple of boards already...

Fingers crossed I'm arriving on Sat. I've booked on a Snoworks Backcountry week. Is it still dumping?
There was no dump. A short shower, 2cm in the village, if that. Some areas might accumulate more on the mountain with drifting, but not enough to get excited about
comish, If you want info on the avalanche risk go to the Tyrol avalanche service website, daily bulletins in English and links to weather stats, graphs, blog (in German only). http://lawine.tirol.gv.at/
Also take a look at Franz Trimmel's blog at http://alloffpiste.com, lots of good info there.

stanton, are the water reservoirs low? Surely with cold temps they generate enough fake snow?
The reservoir at the top of Valfagehr is lower than I remember seeing it towards the end of seasons. They are generating snow, it's the only reason that pistes are open, but daytime temperatures have been above freezing (and even some nights haven't been that cold, can get away with walking round in a hoody) and the pistes have been used heavily with the last two weeks being peak ones, so that man-made snow doesn't stay forever.
