Back from Schladming. Positive temps all week. Snow held up well until it rained wednesday night, all day thursday and a little on friday morning. Pistes are now soft, chopped up, scraped and with bare patches appearing, spring like. Local knowledge said even warmer temps today (sat 15th jan) and sunday. Only a couple of runs shut though and with still a pretty deep base a return to freezing temps and a bit of snow all will be good again.

It has been very wet... but we still haven't lost the snow in the valley - so that is good.. .looks like colder temps very soon - I hope so!

Looking at the ski welt (my destination for Feb) webcams - looks desperately in need of cold and snow! Good timing

I just skiied in Maria Alm, which is pretty low(800-1900) the south facing pistes have taken a bit of a battering due to the Föhn, but everything open and the pistes were totally fine, don´t panic who ever is due here, snow forecast Wed/Thur/Friday, and temps have dipped into the minus again. There is still great great skiing to be had

Out to Scladming at the weekend, and have been hoping the snow forecast materialises - at least now it has moved into the (slightly) more reliable timeframe.

In Fiss currently (arrived Sat). Crazy temps yesterday and today. Wall to wall sunshine. Piste ranges from 1500m to 2600. Holding up well considering. Some brown runs and afternoon skiing closer to resort is not pleasant - sugary, clingy stuff with lots of loose mounds. Get up higher and away from the resort areas and skiing very good. Still could do with the base topping up and cover the pastureland that is evident off piste. We are promised snow tomorrow which coincides with the night skiing here in Fiss. Try and give another update tomorrow evening.

Mister T, seriously, the pistes are really holding well, you will have no problems!! Have a great time and be sure to go to the Hohenhaus Tenne!!! Maybe see you there, you going to the night race?We usually get quite a crowd to go.

Can't believe so lucky as to pick that week! - looking forward to the night race as have never seen anything like that - is it pay on the night?

I dunno, I've found snow-forecast.com tends to underestimate snowfall. It can't be that wrong just a day in advance?

On piste today was fantastic consdiering the abuse they have had over the last week or so.
The temp did not stary over +4/5 all day (even in the bright shiny lovely sun  )
The pistes are still very firm and in good conditions. They have not gone to the slush side but have broken into sugar-snow all over. So when a piste-beasty bashes past the cord is about a foot deep and you just sink in it!
The temp is certainly dropping quickly but there is very little cloud cover accross the amadé region at present... lets see what happens!

-5 up the Schmitten and snowing quite heavy.
-8 up Kitzsteinhorn.

How's Saalbach looking for next week? Their website says 1 to 3 cm of new snow today on top of 50cm at the top and 30cm at the bottom. But I wondered how the pistes are holding up?
