Wayne, But it reached a similar level a few weeks ago then slipped back down to 1.11 again. Trend since March is upwards though. I think it's far too volatile to read too much into. |

alex_heney, I tried to open an account with Nationwide. They won't let me so (I agree witthyou) in the absence of a NW account get a pre-paid card. Unless you're happy with carrying loads of cash.

Wayne, I see that Crown Currency do foreign exchange by mail order I do like their rates but it's a novelty, posting £1000 worth of bank notes out to their customers. ice use the same system, and it works fine. Registered is perfectly safe for cash upto the chosen limit, i have on occasion received multiple thousands in sterling via the registered system. The only draw back (to the registered system) is that the system itself doesn't prove what was in the package, so to protect themselves from claims of missing currency the various excahnges must have a system of multiple individuals signing off on the contents of a package (or possibly a video record of the making up and sealing of the packages).

Not market related but our lovely chancellor has decided to bump National Insurance by 1/2 %
Its so underhanded to change NI, people would bitch about a change to Income Tax rates but they never realise the NI is a much bigger hit as there is no allowance and it hits employers too.
