Ahhh, Stevev, you can get too much of a good thing. Fair chance that the upper mountain will be closed for a time, while the avvy danger is mitigated. That said, I would rather be skiing next week, even on the lower mountain, than doing PowerPoint. Enjoy!

I noticed valluga has been closed most of the week, according to the piste report on the website.
Is that due to bad visibility or avalanche risk?

Ok, so I just got back from Lech (average speed from the top of the mountain to my home about 850 kms from lech by car : 118.6 kph )
Tuesday it was snowing all day, which made it great because about 30 cm of powder got added to the pistes during the day. Then Wednesday, about another 50 cm of snow had fallen overnight, after the pistes had been groomed. So there was like 50 cm of powder actually on the piste, just dreamy. Most powder I had ever had on piste.
Then Thursday was pretty bad, snow all day, very dark and very poor visibility on top, with the pistes being skied out pretty early.
Friday was pretty great, mostly due to the sun coming out for a completely sunny and warm last afternoon of skiing before heading back. It was getting pretty hot though, and in the evening you could hear the snow melting on the hotel roofs and running down the drainpipes. When I left this morning at 10, it was around 10 degrees in the village.
Probably due to the snow and wind / avalanche risks, from tuesday on the run from zurs to zug and associated lifts were closed, so if you went from Lech to Zurs, you had to take the bus back
Overall, it was a great week of skiing, mostly thanks to the big drops of snow. Could have used a bit more sun and visibility though, skiing goes so much better when you can see the bumps on the piste before you hit them

Been to St Anton today. Foggy, snowing, poor light, but still better than being stuck in the UK.
Weather looks better for the rest of the week, but pretty warm.

http://www.skiresort.de/english/newlifts.htm lists a new eight person lift (replacing the six person) at Rendl for 2009/2010 and a Rendl/Kappl link for 2011/2012. That said it also lists a St Anton/Zurs link for 2011/2012 and I am not sure I believe that. It also talks about an eight person lift going up Val Gronda in Ischgl in 2010/2011.

Very warm days here.
Just quick update. Happy Valley has been closed all week to much danger from Lawine.
The last weeks more lifts than usual will be open. i.e Schindler, all of Stuben, St christoph & Galzigbahn to get you there.
Most mountain bars are closed now. Onlz Moose, Rodelhutte, Griabli & maybe Sennhutte.
Allegedly there was a serious sexual assault in the Funky Chicken/Pomodoro the other night involving the child of an English Family & a German.
The Spar Supermarket has closed down yesterday after 33yrs.
Maximilian restaurant is bankrupt and is closing down (maybe today)
More next week

The connection to Zurs (Valluga Tunnel) has been planned for more than 20years. It is one of those projects on everyone's wish list that will never happen. Lech & Zurs DO NOT want to be connected to any area in the Tirol.
The Lech >> Warth project will probably go ahead after the final environmental issues have been resolved.
No more news on the destruction of the Platzl Bar, Pomodoro & Funky Chicken just he plans are in ....

It's kinda sad that the old gondola will go at Rendl - I quite like the fact that people are probably put off using it due to a) its location and b) the fact it looks as if it's been nicked from some dodgy eastern European resort. Will maybe have to put up with more users on the Rendl slopes then from next year onwards
