A fantastic morning tree skiing with 30+ cms of fresh powder. Bad visibility kept people away.
RachelQ, don't think the baths are open yet. Keep an eye on the forecast, snow due most days next week and you may need chains.

not as much of a blue bird day as the photo's will show.
the house this morning with its growing chute de neige!
we didn't get up the hill till 10, i was unsure wether riding pow was a good idea as back still sore. What actually happend was that i shot straight off in to the powder and that was it, i was staying there! We went up the grand serre, the black run and the bit of off piste next to it was riddled with tracks and people making them, but by the drag lift it was untouched, thats where we came down and left these
then headed prorel way and just kept upon lovely and fluffy untouched powder. Totally glorious day. Piste are unfaultable, off piste is as good as it can get if you ask me. Heard some complaining that it was heavy, but i didn't find that at all today.
Last i looked le Balm lift was still closed! Gonna be a sweet day of freshies when they open that.
from the foret chair looking up
and looking down.
so tomorrow we start in monetier, the cucamel is calling, how high will i get up there this time???
and to top it all off we have this to lookforward to

if your on your way to sunny serre che, you are in for a real treat, this place is totally awesom at the moment i've never seen it quite so good.

Wow, looks like we couldn't have timed it better. According to various reports it's going to carry on snowing all week until Saturday when it brightens up - and that's our first day skiing! Can't wait!

snowangel.,
Just didn't get my bearings...I know what is east and west of it, east goes to the little village restro... but we didn't right to the top as we weren't sure of the exposure of the slope so played it safe.
I am assuming it is a big north facing bowl but I don't need to know the way through the trees so just a pic of the face will be good... ta..!!

JT, If it is where I am thinking of, it is a rather interesting looking valley facing the piste basher garage above the peyra juana. We saw a couple of skiers tumbling through the trees there last year.

For me, the best morning on the mountain so far this season. Another 30+cms of fresh powder everywhere and not many people to track it out. Very tired legs now.

northantsred, takes us about an hour and a quater, but we know the roads well, would take longer with snow on the road or for those that dont know the roads so well. Definately worth it mind!

snowangel., have you been over towards L2A and ADH in the summer? are they worth the treck? I've only ever been as far as La Grave in the summer.

Christopher, have now a little studio in l2a, the boy intends on living there for the summer. We go every year, at least for a day. Its nice for a change but i prefer home. Adh i've never been to in summer.
