After keeping my mind off skiing most of the Summer the fire's just been relit by this shot received from a companion in LG last April. Ok there's no deep powder, big air, etc. but it does remind me how great it is to ski some nice snow...

He has that crash and his skis still don't come off - I reckon they are set for his feet to come off before his skis do!

Hey, I must be getting it I can see lots of the stuff folks go on about in that piccy - I think I can see some upper body separation, leg extension on the outside of the turn they are making, even hands, nicely balanced - I'm sure I can ski in theory!!

Apologies for the image quality but thought it important to show that mere mortals also read this thread.
Can't find it now but there is an accompanying image of the landing which is out of shot on this photo!
I don't do jumps anymore....
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

ok think I've figured out this photo thingy. . .
this is from Les Gets first week of February this year. when we got there, there was hardly any snow, and then it dumped. This is the run down to our chalet, which was closed and didn't have enough snow further up to open. I managed to find a way through the trees from another run, and had it to myself for the whole afternoon!
My gf took this one from the chalet on the same day. . .

Note the snow was windblown and 'orrible outside the gullies, were it was nice and soft, hence "variable" would be a good description
From Wikipedia "The word "stoked" is a popular slang word used by those connected with surfing, skateboarding and BMX biking. It's used to mean pumped up, excited, and ready."

Thought I'd add this one, as I was pleased with how the shot came out. Oh - and my mate Martin was pretty stoked with his sking too

Here's a series of shots of me wiping out These were taken whilst Cat-skiing in Fernie, on the morning of a 40cm dump (and still falling).
Fernie redefined 'powder' for me. I spent up to five minutes trying to dig myself out of the stuff on this day. I am crap at skiing in powder but it's immensely enjoyable.

geoffers, great sequence! nice one.
8tj6, that looks rubbish. don't they have any piste groomers in Fernie.

geoffers - I love that affect, did you do it on the camera, or afterwards on a computer??
8tj6, hope you don't mind me saying but from the pics it appears you are sitting too far back, which maybe a contributing factor in your wipeouts

I don't mind at all Kitenski I'm aware of the problem, although that sequence is perhaps a bit misleading because I was crashing for most of it anyway - but then you're right in saying it's a contributing factor in many of my wipeouts. Sometimes I can keep a good stance, sometimes I can't get it right at all. It's just one of the issues I'll be working on next time I go skiing.
I was in Fernie from December 28th to January 17th, Sharky. Were you there recently? I still miss it like crazy.
parlor, the only piste groomers on that particular mountain were the ones carrying us up there via roads
did you hand-hold that, or did you mount the camera on a tripod?

The shots were taken with my digital SLR (Olympus E410) in "burst mode" - 10 shots at 3fps. Yes, it was hand-held, then the individual shots layered in photoshop using a "reveal all" layer mask, painting out the bits in each layer that were obscuring the layer behind. Had to reposition some of the layers, so the actual line skiid isn't quite as shown in the shot, but the overall effect is pretty satisfying.
Found out how to do an action sequence by googling for "photoshop action sequence" and used the tutorial here

I guess this qualifies as stoke. It doesn't always have to be Chamonix, Val D or St.Anton... This was filmed in Bavaria on the Zugspitze a week ago
