Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Huge downgrade from Chamonix-meteo.com this evening...
http://chamonix-meteo.com/chamonix-mont-blanc/weather/forecast/evening/6_days_weather_forecast.php

edit - its all a bit odd as I would not call the rain falling at the moment here as "light" - I think there are more twists and turns in this rain/snowfall saga still to come. I'd be amazed if there was only another 5mm rain / 5cm snow this eve and tonight.

Rain has turned to sleet here at 1200m in Chatel with some wet flakes of snow mixed in - and it is coming down moderately to heavily at times - so still a chance of a decent fall of snow by morning here at resort level - despite tonight's forecasts.

Same here in Chatel Pamski - 6cm of quite wet snow at 1200m - but as its been raining / sleeting / snowing all night at this altitude - I'm expecting lots of snow higher up! Temperature around freezing here and still snowing moderately. Avalanche blasting can be heard.

Urgh, HORRIBLE driving conditions Wink In all seriousness there is snow in LG but it's very, very soggy.

Pamski I did look at your car when driving/sliding down from the school drop off today and wonder if you were heading out. Hope you're having a good time. Am hoping to get to Avoriaz for a couple of hours at lunch and then up into the bowl early doors tomorrow morning if you're still around?

Thanks for the updates, sounds promising. I'm sitting in the Shuttle at Folkestone on time for the 10.36 departure. Hope they've ploughed the roads by 21.00 when we should be in Chatel

dennisp, yep, Morzine 5cms maybe a little pessimistic but around that at 07h30. Was raining at least until we snoozed, the wheels having somewhat fallen off.

What has happened to Morzine though?? It's gone all Megeve. Posh tarty bars all over the place and what price a steak at the Chamade? Having a laugh!

Still snowing in Les Gets - our two car loads of family have arrived successfully - washing machine run already for baby/incident/tunnel no more info required! Dog walked up the road.
MeMyselfandI, always fun to see the cars do the bends in the road down from the school. Probably little skiing for us now with small person to look after!

All sounds promising - I was planning to have a day in Champery/Avoriaz/Chatel over the weekend, but wasn't sure if it was worth the trip.

Update from Chatel - where it is still snowing. 12cm of fresh snow this morning in the village at 1200m

I measured 25 to 30cm of fresh at 1800m this morning and 30 to 35cm at 2000m.

Updates and more info coming up on ChatelWeb.com this afternoon.

You're very welcome. Better than waiting for piccies to be posted. I've been watching these for weeks as I'm out on the 26th and until yesterday I was getting a tad worried. Should be set now as there's more forecast in the week and a big dump on the 25th and 26th. Yay. As they say.

Let's hope so. The "big dump" on the 25th/26th is far from a certainty though - simply because of time and the vagaries of the weather, especially in the mountains.

The on the ground reports posted here are great - really appreciated! Looks like the snowfall has been toward the upper end of everyones hopes and expectations.

under a new name - what's your definition of a great deal? I'm not suggesting this snowfall is a great deal of snow by any means - but 35cm of fresh is significant, especially under the current circumstance of thin snow cover.
