Accomodation hosts generaly hold out to see if they can rent for a full week and only give up part weeks / weekends nearer the time. Accomodation near the lifts or near a bus stop is more convenient.

The lifts that are confirmed for opening this weekend in St.Anton are : Galzgbahn, Christoph bahn & Osthangbahn. The weather forecast does not look good for more snow hitting the resort until at least after the weekend.

Opening Thursday 3rd ONLY Piste 5 Osthang (Osthang Chairlift in service) . Access with Galzigbahn or St Christophbahn
Bereits am Donnerstag, dem 3. Dezember 2009, wird wie geplant die Piste Nr. 5 - Osthang Einfahrt geöffnet sein und die Osthangbahn in Betrieb. Mit der Galzigbahn und der St. Christophbahn gelangt man auf den Galzig.
Friday 4th further lifts & Pistes Open.
Ab Freitag, 4. Dezember 2009, werden zusätzlich folgende Bahnen und Lifte in Betrieb sein:
- Schindlergratbahn
- Valfagehrbahn
- Tanzbödenlift
- Übungslift St. Christoph
Folgende zusätzliche Pisten sind dann befahrbar:
4a - Tanzböden
9 - Schwarze Wand
10 - Arlensattel
12 - Ulmerhütte
14 - Valfagehrjoch
17 - Valfagehr

Seems to be a growing consensus in the forecasts that there could be a colder period of weather gaining ground from the middle of next week.

I think it to early to make long range predictions, the wind direction is changing on a daily basis . North to South South West to South East.

do you know how open st.anton is expected to be (in terms of lifts) by this w/e?
I'm flying into zurich on friday night and still haven't decided between st.anton or engelberg/andermatt.

From Friday 11th these lifts & pistes will open. More may open depending on how cold (snowmaking) & how much Snow they get tomorrow onwards !!!

It's been a good day in St. Anton - the current webcam on St. Christophe looks magical. ... and the Feratel streaming photos of base at the end of the day were looking very positive ... let us know what the actual on the ground difference is please Stanton!! ta d

Judging by the 30 - 40 cm of snow at the Arlberg train stations then a good day is going to be had for those at St Anton !!!

Just got back from St Anton, (left Arlberg yesterday afternoon). After thawing and raining below 2000m on Thursday it got much colder, and snowed heavily all day Friday. Gampen area opened Friday, and we skied in terrible visibility, continously falling snow, and excellent deep powder. By the middle of Friday the run to village had been officially open (we skied it in the morning and had to dodge piste bashers on the bottom section). Yesterday the visibilty was terrible again, dense cloud and light snow, so we went over to Sonnenkopf, and skied lots of runs we couldn't see! It was cold, and plenty of snow right down to low level - looks good for the coming week - in excess of 150cm at 2000m and enough low down once they piste it. Also had snow across much of southern Germany driving back yesterday evening. We also skied Ischgl on Wednesday - superb conditions, and almost everything open.

I did Ischgl on Saturday, very foggy, but over on the swiss side it was a different day, clear and sunny. Pity all those on the Austrian side skiing in fog. Snow was great there, loads of fresh snow, calf deep on the pistes in places. Some valley runs complete, but a bit scraped in places.

Cold and sunny today. Pistes in excellent condition first thing, but packing down after about midday. Off piste continuing to get slowly heavier, but cold temps helping. There is good stuff out there, but you have to look! Taps on a roll tonight, sun deck comes into its own when it is sunny (er... obviously), and great revamp inside as well as cracking live band.
