Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

La Plagne 2007/2008

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Just back from LP - perfect conditions! (Mont de la Guerre was a slush+rock nightmare at base level though). I didn't feel we missed out due to the Vanois Express being down - plenty of piste and massive off-piste areas to explore for anyone who's not been out there before (with great powder being topped up all week). Really liked Les Coqs and Grande Pente runs and also tree lined routes to Montchavin. None of us managed to do NF of Bellecote (next time). The Negatives...The lifts are quite slow and some of the two man chairs are leg slicers. The snow park needs some work - no hail Mary kickers and no half-pipe at the time. Belle Plagne is quieter than some resorts but there's plenty of boozy fun in the Tete, Saloon and the place across from the Tete(?). Bellecote was mobbed with some Dutch college kids which made that area a lot livelier. Major downer was 3 of our group had their boards nabbed (despite being chained together) Evil or Very Mad . Just goes to show you can't trust boarders Toofy Grin .

Bellecote was the scene of the crime. I believe it's been quite common place this season.

Flights booked last July for a short break from 12th March to 15th. Did Les Arcs in Jan on the family holiday so with the Vanoise closed we wanted to do La Plagne for the 3 days. Just got a twin booked in the Hotel Bellecote in Montchavin (B&B and a lot less than self catering in Montalbert wink Laughing ). 3 days skiing and 3 nights eating cow of some variety in La Ferme De Caesar with Cyril as an excellent host. Only 4 weeks and 2 days Cool snowHead

it seems to be a nice little village with some lovely tree lined runs. we had a couple of trips down when staying at LP1800. most enjoyable. the one thing about the new web view at PB brings home just how ugly the developement really are. here i was joyfully reminiscing the skiing and then had a look on the cam!!!! whatever did the planners think it would turn out to be like? all those difficult bends and curves in the walls and yet......total exposed bare concrete!

The newer bits of Arc 1800, like the newer bits of Arc 2000, aren't so bad. This is my little bit of 1800.

thefatcontroller, Ok so being based at 1800 will mean we won't be reliant on it to get home....(not that I will be trying to get home until I have to)!

Next question, a couple of years ago I spent a day in La Plagne and ended up on this lovely run (presumably black as was not bashed), you got to it by going up a drag and then along a fairly narrow path, lovely steep powder run ending up in a small valley (and a bit of a trek along to a chair to get out)...any ideas where that was as my memory is very hazy due to just following others all the time and taking no notice of my environment...

martski, .... looks like you have 'Christopher Columbus Syndrome' ...

He left not knowing where he was going ...., arrived not knowing where he was ....., and returned not knowing where he had been ... Toofy Grin

I have a feeling that you went up 'CRETES' draglift towards 'Le Biolley' (Circa 2400m)- accessed from the BECOIN chair from Plagne Centre. Then you probably decended into the Les Etroits area/valley & then along the track - general direction Montalbert. Les Etroits is a superb area, but can be VERY dangerous when slopes are loaded.
