Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Its stopped snowing & the skies are clearing to give great views of the high mountain peaks Very Happy

The pisters can be heard blasting away to make the pistes safe. The avalanche risk is going to be high 4/5 so PLEASE be Safe Laughing Just off the side of a piste can be very dangerous.

Another stunning day in the Espace Killy and i am sure throughout the alps.

Clear dark blue skies(just like the holiday brochures),pristine snow & stunning views Very Happy Very Happy The holiday crowds have however arrived and some runs are a little crowded just before lunch and at the end of the day.

Skied around the 'Tour de Lac' this morning with my group of English,Belgiums & Dutch clients. An interesting mixture of cultures and initially skiing styles.
Lunch time brought a first for me - teaching an Austrian, lady who has skied since her childhood, and is sneaking in a weeks tuition whilst on holiday with a friend without her husband knowing Laughing She wants to go back home and impress him with her new ability & confidence (he has raced since his childhood and is an instructor) Toofy Grin
The afternoon involved a trip around the Belvarde bowl area and my only coffee of the day Sad in the Marmottee restaurant Blush

The pistes are still in a great condition, despite all the traffic, but the off piste is rather tracked out unless you are prepared to hike a little.

The forecast is more of this great weather over the next few days so sun tan cream is imperative NehNeh NehNeh NehNeh

Decided to have a trip up Grande Motte this morning to show my clients the stunning views around the alpine peaks. As usual everbody was impressed and suprised how close Mont Blanc appears. The clouds forecast for this afternoon could be seen away to the NW and they arrived mid afternoon to give cloud cover but no snow.

A couple of pics just to show the stunning views. Very Happy Very Happy

nice pics Stewart woodward...... Your pics (and also easiski's ones) help me to show at my friends that in the Alps there are some places with good ski and lots of snow. This, added to the fact that in the Pyrenees the season was the worst in the last 25 years can be possible that we will do a trip to the Alps at the Easter, and the Espace Killy (or 2 Alps too) is a good choice for its altitude and situation.

I'm happy because I don't understand why in March or April the people don't ski, is the best time in the Alps (in the Pyrenees April maybe not), and maybe this year can be the opportunity to show this at some friends that never ski in April. As your pics help me a little, Thanks....

Skiing powder, and getting paid for it, rounds off a busy but very enjoyable week Blush

As my previous reports have shown we have had a day after day of sunshine this week and excellent pistes Laughing Today it started to snow about 8.30 and snowed quiet heavily this morning before the clouds broke and the sun emerged around lunch time. So time to ski some easily accesiable off piste. The runs down to Le Breviere, and around the Aguile Rouge lift, are always good on a day like today, very safe, not too steep and no walking. Just lots & lots of fun Laughing Laughing Laughing

More snow is forecast over the weekend so next week looks like another great week in the Espace Killy NehNeh NehNeh NehNeh

It's hardly stopped snowing since saturday morning so we have mega amounts of new snow Laughing Laughing

Visited some friends down the valley yesterday and it was snowing all the way down to St Foy.Rain lower down though. The roads were leathal with lots of accidents and the usual idiots trying to drive without chains/4x4.

Not really sure whats going to happen this morning as i don't imagine all the lifts will open on time as the pisters are busy blasting to make the slopes safe.

Looking forward to a day powder skiing Very Happy Very Happy

It was probably me, I have just returned from EK and spent the whole week skiing my wife and kids.
The thing is though that we were having fun in great conditions and it really doesn't matter how good you are, it just isn't that important. (as long as you are safe and do not put others in danger)

I saw plenty of arrogant idiots who believe they own the place though!

Oh and for all those who think the stomach virus is a myth then please let us know why so many people we know got it at some time during the week.

What type of accommodation were they staying in? Apartment/chalet/hotel? The anecdotal evidence seems to point to those staying in larger TO-run chalets/chalet hotels being more susceptible to getting this 'bug' Confused

We were in a large chalet hotel run by Esprit and to be fair, considering the number of children, not that many were sick. All the people that did get it were in medium sized chalets (10-20 people). The mayor has put out a typically french 'it's not our fault' document but then explains how they have totally changed the water system. The people there all say it is just 'winter sickness' that happens all over the Alps but I have never come across it before. I am sure it is a virus and it is not bacterial but it is definately there and so go prepared for the trots for a day or so.

Matthew Way, The Tignes bug has been doing the rounds for years and years. I was witness to 8 out of 12 people (including myself) getting it a couple of seasons ago, it is really quite nasty I lost almost a stone that week...........yet it still does the rounds season after season. The mayor may say what he likes (usually in support of keeping the tourist coming) but they have a real problem out there. I won't go to Tignes now as I feel that it is not worth the risk of missing 1 -2 days of skiing. Crying or Very sad Prefer to go somewhere I won't get sick. Very Happy with lots of snow snowHead

The usual free hot chocolate and nibbles for spectators and lots of drinks for the instructors. I seemed to be washing down 'Ricard' with large amounts of white wine. Not really sure how it looked but lots of instructors will have sore heads in the morning Puzzled Puzzled

I think 100procent is worrying about the temperature being over 0, basically don't worry, next week is too far away for any forecast to have any certainty.

If it does get warm, Tignes is a good spot to be in as lots of it's skiing is high up!

Enjoy yourself and welceom to Snowheads Smile

Welcome to snowHeads 100procent, it does look like it might be a bit warm next week. As long as it doesn't rain too much on it the snow should keep fine though. Take lots of high sun protection cream and don't be afraid! snowHead

100procent,

Hi & welcome to snowHead

The temperatures nothing to be afraid of. It snowed saturday/sunday/monday and whilst it has been bright sunshine for most of today it started snowing again at approx 5.00pm Blush Its due to snow again tomorrow & thursday Very Happy

We have enough snow to last for weeks even if the temperature rises for a few days. Spring is coming so temperatures rise during the day and freeze overnight

cathy,

One good thing about mountain air is it gets rid of a hangover very quickly Laughing

A couple of photos taken today just to confirm we have lots of snow Very Happy

Hey guys,

Am heading off to tignes for the first time on Saturday with a couple of friends who have not skiied for a while. They were all pretty advanced last time out, but was wondering if anyone could suggest a bit of an itinery for the first day that will challenge but also not too much whilst we all get back in the groove.

Cheers
