Having used my Severn Tag twice on Saturday I was musing about the fact that the Telepeage system only charges at the time of (i.e. effectively after) use whereas the Severn Tag system (owned by a French Company I believe?) requires an up-front payment to pre-load the thing, so they get the interest on my dosh for free. Yet another example of Brits being mug enough to put up with rip-offs

Yoda, ah but, the French charge you each month of use so if you go to France the last week of the month you gets charged the fee twice for using it a week. (Guess who went to France last week of October and came back November 2nd )

boredsurfin, Helen Beaumont, They have more than one charging system ... ours ( 3/4 ? on one account) are DD'd in arrears ... but then again I can't remember if I paid anything in advance 5/10 years ago ....
point remains ..ban Brits from having them , they'll only moan about something

Agenterre, tolls are paid in arrears, I just got my bill for October yesterday. Advance deposit of 30 euros or so when I got it, refundable when I return it I suppose. Monthly fee of 2 euros only when I use it in that month.

Request for assistance please!!
The credit card I use to pay my Liber-t service has expired. I have looked on the Paris Rhin Rhone website at my account details but can't see anywhere to update the card details.
Has any managed to do this on-line? If so could you point me in the right direction please?
Thanks

Helen Beaumont, I 'think' I originally had the same problem .. I went in to one of their 'bureaux' in real time ( the ones by the autoroutes) ...now , no problem.

Agenterre, and that would involve me getting Julien to slow down long enough for me to get out of the car................

|
boredsurfin, just checked out the website, in the terms and conditions, it says that to change your bank card you can either send a photocopy of your new bank card to them, or call in at one of the 'bureaux'. I will have to do the former, as we will need to use it before we reach the first bureaux (according to the website anyway).

CP, I got mine from Sanef. Updated expiry date on card last month. Not had chance to use it yet since. Will find out next week. Hope it works.

codger, how did you update the card? Did you phone, email or send them a photocopy of the new card?
|
|
|

Helen Beaumont, I sent initial enquiry through Sanef website. They replied asking for cedit card details and new expiry date. Sent them new expiry date. No need for photocopy. Had reply saying records successfully updated. Hopefully will work next week. Will update if any problems.

We took the plunge and got one last week.
Good grief - there'll be huge queues of snowheads stacked up at the telepeage now! It'll probably be quicker paying cash!
Why do I need the little silver bag that tells me not to throw it away? Do I need to keep it in there for some reason??
Does the thing have a battery in it that I will need to replace?
Havent read all the stuff properly yet... Do I have to to anything to activate it or will it now just work automatically?
Do they charge the tolls to the credit card I bought the thing on or do I have to register a card?
Thanks.
