Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Having used my Severn Tag twice on Saturday I was musing about the fact that the Telepeage system only charges at the time of (i.e. effectively after) use whereas the Severn Tag system (owned by a French Company I believe?) requires an up-front payment to pre-load the thing, so they get the interest on my dosh for free. Yet another example of Brits being mug enough to put up with rip-offs rolling eyes

Yoda, ah but, the French charge you each month of use so if you go to France the last week of the month you gets charged the fee twice for using it a week. (Guess who went to France last week of October and came back November 2nd rolling eyes )

boredsurfin, Helen Beaumont, They have more than one charging system ... ours ( 3/4 ? on one account) are DD'd in arrears ... but then again I can't remember if I paid anything in advance 5/10 years ago ....

point remains ..ban Brits from having them , they'll only moan about something rolling eyes

Agenterre, tolls are paid in arrears, I just got my bill for October yesterday. Advance deposit of 30 euros or so when I got it, refundable when I return it I suppose. Monthly fee of 2 euros only when I use it in that month.

I read this thread with interest as I have always wondered how easy it would be to fix up an account and badge. So I can happily say that following the advice on the thread and 6 days after ordering one through APRR (chosen because it seemed cheaper and quicker in the post) I now own one Very Happy Thanks to all you snowHead s for sharing your experiences. BTW it comes wth a nice little reflective silver bag that I assume I should keep it in whilst queuing to pay by cash so as not to delay fellow snowHead s who already have one Toofy Grin

Request for assistance please!!

The credit card I use to pay my Liber-t service has expired. I have looked on the Paris Rhin Rhone website at my account details but can't see anywhere to update the card details.

Has any snowHead managed to do this on-line? If so could you point me in the right direction please?

Thanks

Taken the plunge with pam w's suggestion for APRR. The website was a breeze after the info in this thread (use Alta Vista's Babel Fish if you are paranoid about the French small print) and the confirmation email received afterwards is in English, bless them snowHead. Many thanks for the heads up pam w.

Yep, its 10 euros, refundable, for the gizmo and 1.50 euros subscription for the months in which its used. Even with only two trips likely this year, it seems that you can't be had! (although I did read davidof's mention of card cloning).

So that, together with a TomTom, is Mrs sproggski's Christmas sorted! I am so thoughtful - she will get to rest throughout the journey, not needing to pay at peages or navigate!

She's got to like that more than the iron and pressure cooker last year Toofy Grin

boredsurfin, just checked out the website, in the terms and conditions, it says that to change your bank card you can either send a photocopy of your new bank card to them, or call in at one of the 'bureaux'. I will have to do the former, as we will need to use it before we reach the first bureaux (according to the website anyway).

We took the plunge and got one last week.
Good grief - there'll be huge queues of snowheads stacked up at the telepeage now! It'll probably be quicker paying cash!

Why do I need the little silver bag that tells me not to throw it away? Do I need to keep it in there for some reason??
Does the thing have a battery in it that I will need to replace?

Havent read all the stuff properly yet... Do I have to to anything to activate it or will it now just work automatically?
Do they charge the tolls to the credit card I bought the thing on or do I have to register a card?

Thanks.
