This JUST in...
500 AM MST THU NOV 24 2005
...MAJOR CHANGE IN WEATHER PATTERN WILL BRING SNOW AND COLD...
A persistent upper level high pressure area will gradually weaken and shift east through Friday. A large and moist storm system in the eastern pacific will send much of its energy into the great basin Friday night and Saturday. A strong cold front associated with this storm system will sweep across Utah on Saturday and produce precipitation. This will remove the inversion that has been affecting the valleys.
Significant snowfall is expected across the mountains of Utah. Precipitation is expected to begin as a mixture of rain and snow across the lower elevations of northern Utah Friday night...however as colder air filters into the region the precipitation will change to all snow on Saturday. Significant valley snowfall is possible Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning along the i-15 corridor.
Snow showers will continue across northern Utah on Sunday and temperatures will be much colder. Only isolated snow showers are expected in southern Utah. Readings will struggle to reach the mid 30s across the northern valleys. Expect temperatures in the teens and 20s over the higher terrain.
A stronger and even colder storm system from the gulf of Alaska appears on tap for Monday through Wednesday. This storm system has the potential to bring significant snow to much of the region. Cold temperatures will persist Sunday through next week.

Wear The Fox Hat, it's all relative.
1. You can drink no booze and can only eat salad for 62 days - thats a very long time.
2. You have 62 days to live - that's a very short time.

Bad news guys, down in the valley they have a snow advisory
GENERALLY 2-6 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED FOR THE ADVISORY AREA BY SUNDAY MORNING. LESSER AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE LIKELY FOR AREAS NORTH OF TREMONTON...THE TOOELE VALLEY...AND FOR THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE SALT LAKE VALLEY.
HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW SQUALLS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE THROUGH EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. THE HEAVY SNOW SHOWERS COULD RESULT IN LOCAL ACCUMULATIONS OF 6-9 INCHES.
It's bad news, because we're not there!
The resort is reporting 40cm in the last 2 days.

I've posted the same question on Epic earlier today but what wax do you use for Utah?

Mind you, I am taking a double ski bag with only one pair in it
|
|
|

spyderjon, I use a low temp one. But once I get out there, I'll be getting the resort guys to re-wax every 3-4 days, as they have the right stuff, and do a good job.
I'll have my diamond file with me in case I snag a tree branch or something, and it marks me edges, but I would be surprised if your edges show much sign of wear.

Wear The Fox Hat, gotcha
Sorry - just a parody of the usual vague indications of skill and objective relayed via a forum together with "what ski should I buy"
Seriously I don't want skis yet - not convinced I'm ready - I just rent top of the range ones and don't get worried if they're damaged on the plane.

marc gledhill, plenty of time to take skis out during lessons, and switch them at lunch, or get some in the evenings. There's time to do that before we go to the bar for the arm stretching exercises!

Actually I've only ever done 2 or 3 powder *runs* - and only a few feet at that. Whistler last year wasn't big on the powder!!!
(Great for slush and spray though!)
<understatment>I am quite looking forward to it!!!</understatment>

Ah - I made a small mistake - we're going from the 4th to the 18th
So I'm aiming for the half price DM from the 5-8th march - are you there then?
Where are you staying? We're at the Woodrun just a few feet up Blackcomb.
