@telford_mike, Cheers, Better than even 2010 in terms of depth and quality of snow. Hopefully we won't have to wait that long again

Snow back on the local hills to make a 5th day of 'skiing' this month. Across the valley this time from All Stretton to walk up to the golf course in time for the sunset. The foot path usually holds enough snow to skin up on to the tops.

I had a drive over to Snowdonia yesterday for a look see and skin up. Although the web cams suggested more snow then there was, I managed turns for a few hundred meters vertical on the Carneddau.

Looks like it's started in South Wales with MikePow's thread kicking off.
This week we saw some snow in Snowdonia but not enough to warrant the 2 hour drive from here. My go to links for conditions are:
https://ogwen-rescue.org.uk/webcams/
^^ Looking down the A5 towards Y-Garn. The Carneddau on the right.

^^ My local hills.

^^ A site recording the snow fall in Snowdonia.
The facebook UK ground conditions group is pretty handy too.
It turns out that the Carneddau ponies are a breed in their own right.

Meanwhile here in North Wales, plenty of cover, but locked down, so a no go unless for a specific set of reasons for travel.

Another dump about 6am in Derbyshire this morning. Had one car abandoned outside already and the police are advising not to travel.
Loads of idiots from Sheffield and Manchester asking about the best places to come and bring their kids sledging on the local Facebook pages.

@russ_e, Where abouts are you in the Peaks. I've never made it over to ski but Leek is only an hour away for me. Any suggestions for likely slopes ?

We are between Bakewell and Over Haddon so lots of little hills you could spend an hour going up and down but nothing great. With regards to Ski Touring, I'm not really sure to be honest. Mam Tor might be good, Kinder Scout or Win Hill too.
It's not very high around here unfortunately but there is still some snow left today and more forecast tomorrow. It's really busy at the moment so if you want to park up you will need an early start!
