Why so hostile, Masque?

Somehow. the concept that anyone with the wherewithal to buy a chalet in the Alps but doesn't have or want to spends the means to maintain it throughout the Winter season

"Spending" cuts into "the wherewithal".

Why not? If the "skiing community" is so full of greed and gullable, they deserve the abuse.
Or, there're people whose situation are such they find the arrangement advantageous?

Boredsurfing, na, an Estate Agent would be 'biggin' it up more and most MPs are either too stupid or too busy crappin' their diaper to run a subtle marketing exercise like this . . .
PR, Marketing or Lawyer is my guess, but I've yet to narrow that down.

Why do you all get so annoyed at this? isn't it just a little sad you all spend so much time and effort on it? saying he is greedy ripping people off, cant the applicants make up their own minds, perhaps they should all come on here and learn from the great wise snowheads, susrprising these fools can make it to switzerland let alone ski, some (lots of you) have your heads way up your ass.

geeo,
Nixmats advert for staff has been going on for two seasons now and most of us enjoy the oppurtunity for a piss take. Spammers such as nixmat are ritually abused on forums, the abuse he recives on here is in his own words mild compared to other places he has spammed with his adverts...
If you pause to read his responses you will notice that he thrives on the banter plus of course a 'lively' thread regularly gets his job ads more prominence.

geeo, Actually, I'm trying to see both sides (not too successfully mind you) but a lot of the regular contributors have been here for quite a long time and it's natural to feel a little protective about this growing family. As we grow we become a juicy target for predatory minds . . . and we have to be honest, there are plenty of those to go around. Having read this thread completely, I'm coming to he conclusion that this is a very naive offer . . or an extraordinary venal one.
As better people than I have said in the past . . . 'there's no such thing as a free lunch'
This is being offered as a free banquet and for some reason I haven't found that the synonym for altruism is Nixmap

i have read the responses and i see he doesn't get offended/bored by the crap spouted and continues on offering what he believes is a fair offer that's all.

geeo, Any unpaid for ad on here is treated much the same and quickly removed by the mods. Mat Nix is posting an offer of employment which is a job advertisement to most people I would have thought.
Also have a look at Masques location

I seriously don't think it's such a terribly unfair offer. Yes, if you ASSUME he expect gourmet dinner and spotlessly clean chalet, it probably takes a lot of work. Somehow, I doubt he's looking for a house-keeping professionl to work for free.
Think about it, what recourse does he has if he's chalet keeper is a little off the mark in quality of work? He'll have no option but to put up with it for the season!
Having done that for one season AND coming back for more, I'd say it worked out for both of them. Or we would have heard from the "abused" staff of last season by now.
That aside, I do agree with Masque he's most likely a lawyer (or marketing type). "For free", "not a job offer" are the kind of language ONLY a lawyer or telemarketer could say with a straight face given the nature of the "offer"!

3. Just someone who feels that having someone live in the appartment in his chalet and help out at the weekends, is less complicated, more personal, and plainly just more fun, than renting it out for the season, only to spend the equivalent fee on cooks and baby sitters.
Its neither altruistic nor predatory, its just a reasonable exchange betweeen both parties that can help each other and both get something out of it. Balancing that equation in this case is naturally more like to happen here, than in a 3x5 advert in the sunday times.
Its a sad reflection of the times that some have to boil everything down, to dollars and cents.
How much do you pay your girlfriend/wife to stay with you?

I find it telling that you use what could easily be construed as a very offensive allegory to obfuscate your motivation and turn my argument back on itself |
If you really have read the whole thread, I should think you would expect nothing less in response to a somewhat beligerent opening gambit.
I thought my simple example of an arrangement by which people choose to live together for each others benefit, even though motivations may differ, provided clarity rather than confusion. Especially as I had to spend half my time in the dictionary to work out what your post meant.
Its not always easy to work out who gets the better half of any exchange.
The bee or the flower.
The cow or the farmer.
The child or the parent.
The anenome or the clownfish.
The purchasor or the vendor
And wife or husband
Naturally people have differnent opinions on all of these subjects.
Sometimes its possible to try to convert to a common currency and try to measure and balance against similar offerings, but often just not possible.
Thats already been tried on this thread or last years, but the results were inconclusive.
Really it depends what you think you will get out of it, given fair information. Based on the number of detailed applications and questions within them, I think you should give the average snowhead more credit.

nixmap, Why do you insist on using so many inappropriate and facile allegories? the two anthropomorphisms can be ignored immediately they have no place in this thread as there can be no commercial advantage without sentience . . . unless you have long meaningful conversations with your aspidistra and goldfish?
As I said prior, there is a rank whiff of guile throughout this thread as there is, to a degree, in any commercial arrangement. But the relationships between "The child or the parent." or
is a perverse yet interesting use of emphasis and grammar and should be free of that guile and if you think otherwise . . . pray tell us why . . . or leave us to reflect on your values or apparent lack of them.
Then there's the 'cow and the farmer' . . . I think that illustrate his thread with a very Freudian keylight. And you're the farmer nixmap we're the cow, getting a regular insemination, having our children taken from us to enable you to suck our teats dry and then to turn us into dog food. Yer busted nixmap your "information" is designed to facilitate a Pavlovian, almost conditioned reflex response in the reader. You've been lucky in getting so far. You are relying on what 'we' think we'll be getting out of the arrangement and obfuscating what you'll get out of it. You're elucidating detailed information from applicants in order for you to make decisions from an advantaged position.
I give the average snowHead a great deal of credit . . . for their desire to participate and enjoy their sport . . . I give you credit for for being clever enough to leverage that to your benefit and your phrase:
Quote: |
it depends what you think you will get out of it, |
demonstrates exactly how you are performing this . . . scam? . . . that's such a harsh word?
So, from an enticing and nebulously worded forum post(s) you have received a number of responses that will enable you to make an informed choice as to whom will provide the best cost benefit result . . . nixmap you're clever, but by your dissembling you declare yourself as the predatory c**t you appear to be.
Of course you could alleviate our concerns by publishing a full set of terms and conditions for the arrangement . . . but you've already said you won't. I'm becoming fixated to the idea that you're a commercial lawyer . . . though that's not a final thought. Kudos for being clever, may you rot in Hell for being a manipulative ar$ehole rather than the reincarnation of Andrew Carnegie.

I thought we had done the detail on what both sides get out of it to death, actually.
I think I have answered nearly every question either publicly or privately depending on the nature of the question.
We have also compared it to similar commercial postions from TOs, some came out better, better some not.
It is of course entirely subjective as to exactly what value the applicant attaches to the proposition.
Equally clear is what Ill be getting out of it, and thats what balances the equation for some, and others not.
The farmer cow example, is in fact particularly relevant.
It was put there deliberately becuase most (including me) would agree with you but only from the perspective of a human.
Probably your average cow isnt smart enough to know the difference, I guess youd have to be a cow to know (or maybe in your case, had intimate relations with one).
Im not exactly sure why you see fit to assume that I am the farmer, and all snowheads are cows.
Again I think you have a fairly low opinion of the average intelligence of snowhead.
As an aside, seeing as you have such a low opinion of farming, I can only assume you are a vegan, as anyone benefiting from the arrangement you describe must also (by association) be predatory and venal.
