when I joined, on the APRR page, the option was called "balade". It might be an idea to get someone who did a bit of French to help you - go out and drag in a neighbour or something.

I was OK on the French speak, when I joined up, but having trouble with the computer speak.
I opted for the "paperless" version, which takes the price down to 1.50 a month, but the email I have had back, from APRR (Autorroutes Paris Rhin Rhone) confirming my purchase and saying that the badge will follow by post, has an attachment, an ASPX file, that my computer cannot read. I have discovered that this is a web page type file, but if I right click onto "properties" and copy paste the URL it doesn't work and I get an invitation to report a fault to Microsoft, something I never bother with.
Can I safely ignore that file; the covering email doesn't refer to it, as far as I can see.

gwaelod, just had a look at that sanef page, it seems a lot more expensive. Mine was only 10 euros for the badge, and 1.50 a month, and I don't think they're gonna charge to send it, either. Have a look at aprr.fr - and the option you want is called "balade".

gwaelod, "annuler" means cancel, "etape suivant", literally means the following step, same as "next" on an English website. But APRR does seem cheaper. Maybe try again?

The difference is only small in the big scheme of things
|
The main difference seems to be that APRR didn't ask for a deposit, just 10 euros, and no postage cost either. Although you get your 30 euros back, eventually, if the badge is in good order, and if you remember, it's much better not to pay it in the first place. I've checked on the email I was sent, and they have only taken 10 euros from my credit card. That's a fair difference from 43, and on on-going saving of 6 euros a year. Will buy a few beers, especially if I buy them in a supermarket!

The badge and bumf from APRR just arrived by special "signed for" delivery, which cost them over 9 euros. So given that there is no postage charge, and no deposit, I reckon that's a good deal - and the documentation confirmed that only 10 euros had been taken from my credit card account. Plus I got 4 months free for signing up before end of August. The badge has been stuck to the windscreen; can't wait to get down there and see how it works, before the end of the month.

pam w, I didn't pay 43 euros though, only 30. What is the 10 euros for if it isn't a deposit or postage charge?

gwaelod, it's much better than the Severn Bridge TAG - you don't pay if you don't use it

Yoda, I don't pay if I don't use the Severn either. There are 2 types fo Severn tag. One where you pay a set amount each month. If you use the bridge daily this is cheaper however all I do is deposit money in my tag account and everytime I go through it deducts the toll from this amount. Once your balance goes below £20 the traffic light on the bridge flashes a 'low' warning at you and you send another cheque through. Once you send a cheque they send you a VAT receipt for the cheque amount so you can use for expenses if you need. Its the same as France except you deposit money in advance, you don't pay for each trip by CC. Also you don't pay anything for using the severn tag.

gwaelod, ... in which case definitely better than the Severn Bridge one
As with TAG there are a number of different schemes, run by the 3 (??) companies.
Mine works country-wide, 3 repondeurs on same account; invoices and direct debits are sent/made monthly based upon usage and I get a discount on 'most frequently used tolls' and 'volume on Escota(one of the companies)' ....not sure but I think I paid about €20 originally ( although possibly FFR???) for the privilege ...
