Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Now, my baby boy will be 5 months old by the end of January.

Question 1: How many brownie points does that mean I need to earn to be given a pass for ESA?
Question 2: Given that I currently have none at all how many do I now need to average per week from now?
Question 3: How do I earn said brownie points?

I don't really know if I could face leaving the wee man (or his mum of course, honestly!!!! wink ) for 10 days ish .... but can I really let this pass me by?

Adam having been through it all recently myself I must point out,

1. At five months he will be probably be sleeping through and so fairly easy to look after, if you don't go now it could be around four years before you get another chance. Or longer if you have a second child.

2. Brownie points evaporate/have a use by date/dissolve. Either that or my brownie point bag has a big hole in it. Mention you're looking at the ESA and would like to go, leave it at that for now.

3. By next January the first flush of parenthood will have passed, you will still miss him and her, but it will be easier.

4. Once things calm down a bit and routines get sorted and become more second nature - ask if you can go.

Hope you can make it too. snowHead

Hello, Snowheads, and thanks to all who have registered for EpicSki Academy at Snowbird/Alta! We are very excited to have so many of you flying in from so far away for the academy. WTFH asked me to stop in to report when our numbers get close. We're approximately 75% subscribed as of today and the pace is picking up. If you'd like to attend, we'd love to hear from you!

Yell if you have any deals - I'm booking a flight today.

Actually there weren't problems with flights - not much under £430 though.

So our flights are booked and we're getting there early friday evening Smile
Coming back the following saturday afternoon so we get a couple of warm-up days and a day to try it all out! Also get some sleeping time before work on the monday...

Virgin from Heathrow to LA and then Delta to SLC.
Pennies under £500 each (eek!) but we travel at decent times and only need to get to/from Heathrow rather than Gatwick (shudder).

I think I've booked all I need to. Transfer flight Manchester-Heathrow (& return), flight to Sodium Pond (& return - cheers WTFH snowHead ) and and a room at the Lodge for one week.

Do we need to pre-book the shuttle to and from the airport, or is it just like a normal bus service?

Is anyone from snowHeads going to be skiing Snowbird/Alta on the Friday and Saturday after the ESA?

Nice to see there's a good turnout from here, there's WTFH, Spyderjon, Lynds, lbt, Mrs. lbt and myself that I know of. Any other takers? Anyone else thinking about it?

Robbie? Adam?

marc gledhill, the first time I mentioned it she just laughed. the second time she just said no and changed the subject. The last time I brought it up she actually listened and didn't dismiss it out of hand. I know whats going to happen here - I'll keep working on her and she'll finally say go then I'll miss out on the last space by 2 minutes. I am always blessed with this kind of crap luck!

PS: whats the story getting into the states with the old passport? do you need a visa or to just get a new passport?

Adam Holt, that I do know (only 'cos I looked it up). If your passport is fairly old then you're fine. If it's fairly new, you need biometric data on it. If you have a newer passport with no such data, you need a visa.

I suppose you'll want to know the cut off date too. Back in a mo.

Ah, 26th October 2005, but your passport needs to be machine readable (look a bit like the new driving licence, type of thing).

marc gledhill, So my new style red passport issue to me a few years ago (ie well pre 26th Oct 2005) with the driving licence type back page is ok without a visa?

Jesus! ... can I quote you on this!? Sorry Mr Immigration Officer but Marc Gledhill told me as I had a fairly old passport I was fine!

My passport is a red one and was issued in about '97 .... so do I need a new one?
snow report

Thinking about this more - is it not that they have to have some magnetic strip thing on them that our passports did not have before a year or so ago?? Surely I either need a new passport which sounds the most sensible option - or I need a visa?????

Getting a new passport I assume means that I'll need more bits and pieces than just sending in my old passport - i.e. I assume they'll need my birth cert .... now I haven't a clue where it is, so I'll need a new one of them then ..... what kind of passport do I need to get a birth cert!?!? rolling eyes rolling eyes Laughing

spyderjon, Adam Holt, yep your new style red passport is fine. It is machine readable, and not so new to need bio data.

This means you are covered by the visa waiver scheme and can get into the states by filling in the little form they give you on the plane.
