Here in the Skipton we have a good 5" of snow and more on the way.
My 10 year old son woke up hoping that his school would be closed this morning, but to no avail.
My 13 year old daughters school was closed for a training day so she's off sledging.
How about this though?
We are driving to Austria for some Xmas ski-ing.
Both me and my wife have had our first set of skis being made by a contact in the Czech Republic and the original intention was for my brother in law, who knows the maker, to bring them back with him when he returns from Prague later this week.
Now he tells me that he is going to arrange for them to be delivered to our apartment in Kappl for when we get there.
Easier logistically, but it would be nice to have them here so I can try them out in the nice snow we're having

has threatened to chuck a few flakes all day but nothing but a sullen, dark sky and cooooold temps. Am hopeful that by threatening to head to Swindon for a meeting tomorrow morning that the snow-gods will decide to make it more interesting with a dusting of snow

We've had a few thaws in Aberdeen over the alst few days, but then the weather rectifies by DUMPING for an hour or too - so much snow/ice on the pavements I am going to ski to/from work tomorrow. First ski ascent/descent of Aberdeen's Cornhill? I think so!

Must be 3 to 4 inches of snow here in Darlington. All the more impressive when you consider the town is at the bottom of a valley, my sister told me that there is 6 inches of snow in Barnard Castle.
It looks like no more has fallen overnight though, which is probably a good thing. I love snow as much as the next skier but stumbling around in deep snow (relatively speaking!) working on delivery is not much fun!

Looks gorgeous this morning. Been snowing most of the night and still going strong now, on top of the couple of inches we had already. Looking forward to the journey to work as long as it's not too busy.

RichardB, looks like Barnard Castle got off lightly, at least a foot in Durham, although it has compacted a bit since yesterday.Have you got snowchains for your boots?

Half an inch this morning at home, and more coming down. Seems to have stopped outside the office, but was chucking it down a few minutes ago.

Dissapointed.
The UK news reports that "the south and London will receive heavy snow overnight and throughout Tuesday"
This is the statement that got me all excited and geared up for a fun snow day. What has actually happened is there is 1-2 cm if you are lucky and london is just miserable, wet and cold (nothing new there)
Rant over
16 days to go..
