Small gondolas(usually 6 or 8 people) limited to 3 people also with masks

Seems a bit odd when most people are in a couple or a foursome.

What, in a bar or restaurant?

Any place, for bars and restaurants I had to wear the mask all the way from the entrance until my table, once seated you can take it off. If you need to go to the toilet for example, you need to put it on as soon as you get up.

@AndreSilva, Summer is a lot different to the Winter Season...
The number of visitors in the Winter is Huge .. Cold Weather People inside Windows Closed, Heating ON ..
@holidayloverxx, The protocols being published by individual resorts may be a start but the decision will come from Vienna
https://tirol.orf.at/stories/3064025/
Director of the Institute of Hygiene and Medical Microbiology at Meduni Innsbruck has already Rejected the Protocols
""""A lot has been learned lately. By now, one knows that large crowds of people in doors with dancing, with loud screaming, singing and with alcohol are the greatest danger, says Lass-Flörl. "I think we're going to need a new form of apres-ski this year""""
https://www.meinbezirk.at/tirol/c-politik/spoe-tirol-fordert-neue-konzepte-fuer-aprs-ski_a4208283
"""" it should be clear to everyone that the apres-ski as it was known is no longer possible in corona times. This is also how SPÖ-Tirol Land Chairman Dornauer puts it and calls for a new concept for celebrating after skiing next winter""""
Vienna Closed the the 2019/2020 Down
Vienna will decide if its Safe or not to allow Apres Ski 2020/2021 all signals point to a NOGO

It's not quite true. Restaurants, huts and bars will be open, but with table service only, no loud music, and mandatory masks when not seated. A bit like now in fact.
I'm starting to think I'm going to really like this season.

This is good news, Austria open for skiing and even the bars will be open. Table service only suits me.
Just the UK quarantine to worry about now.

So....guess I'll be cancelling the stag trip in March to Saalbach then. On top of the skiing, we were looking forward to the White Pearl Mountain Days and the apres.

Been reading a few news postings and it seems there will be full table service and a 1am curfew. Can't remember the last time I was out at 1am so I'm really happy that Austria will be open.
On another group I'm a member of it's been suggested that the 'No Apres' is only until January but I've not seen any official postings to support this.

I don't think the curfew and table service will negatively affect *that* many guests – I reckon most people will be happy with a few civilised beers with their mates/families.
No, I haven't seen anything that points to it only being until January. I wonder if it has come from statements about there being a vaccination in January? Even if that happens, I think it will take a little while for the rules to change and so it unlikely to be before the end of the ski season. It is quite possible that the regulations will be constantly reviewed and may change at short notice though.

I think for us it will man we look elsewhere. a big part of skiing in Austria is the apres, so maybe we will look to Switzerland, Italy or France for the skiing as well. Not sure.

@FrediKanoute, If you're looking specifically for aprés, then you're going to be disappointed everywhere. No point ruling out Austria just because there's no banging choons this year, better to keep your options open as long as you can.

Having been to Grindelwald/Wengen, Flims/Laax, Engelberg, Klosters/Davos, St Moritz, Zermatt and Verbier over the years, only the latter has what you might call 'Austrian lively' apres ski. Some of the Italian resorts such as Selva might be better for apres. At it's best Swiss apres is little better than afternoon tea with the local women's guild!

Yea, but you don't really EXPECT great apres in most countries, so don't miss it when it isn't there.
If you're in a lot of French resorts apres is maybe a drink at the bottom of the piste before an evening drinking in your chalet/apartment. In this context Covid just means skipping the beer at the bottom of the pieste and going straight back to drinking in your chalet/apartment. In a lot of Austrian resorts apres is drinking at the bottom of the slope till 7pm, followed by food, followed by trying to remember where the hotel/apartment is and going to bed. In this context you really notice the Covid effect.

Exactly.....the Austrian experience is different and Apres is a big part of it. When I've skied in France its been more of a Gastronomic experience rather than a Liver changing one

I enjoy Austrian apres as much as anyone but I won’t miss packing into small umbrella bars, banging beer glasses onto tables and singing “Johnny Depp” with assorted Germans, Dutch and Scandis next year.
Not whilst there’s a pandemic on.

Italy offers some helpful news: “Italy has taken the lead in Europe by announcing that UK travellers will require a negative Covid test to enter the country on holiday, allowing skiers without the virus to ski this winter without quarantine concerns.
The FCDO have just changed their advice to read as follows ........... "A negative COVID test is required when you arrive in Italy from the UK. You’ll be asked to show evidence that you tested negative in a test administered in the 72 hours before your travel."
You should not use the NHS testing service to get a test in order to facilitate your travel to another country. You should arrange to take a private test.
Alternatively, you can get a free test on arrival at some airports (we are waiting to confirm that this will include the Milan airports and Turin). f you test positive within Italy, you will be required to quarantine."

Surprisingly “White Pearl Mountain Days” is still on in Saalbach, and for three weeks instead of the usual two! (13th March - 4th April 2021).
For those who don’t know, this involves parties with music, champagne/food, dressing-up, etc. at different mountain and village huts/restaurants every lunchtime and early evening.
Seems a trifle optimistic!
