ickabodblue, I think you'd be unlucky not to have some nice new snow between now and the end of your stay in Madesimo. It's shaping up. Black clouds gathering on some of the webcams and some more weather coming though towards the end of the weekend, by the look of it, too far to be sure. Just remember this if you end up splodging around in poor vis and wishing for some dry sunshine!! Have a great trip.

Bit of a humour bypass on this thread over the weekend?
FWIW I really value this thread and the free analysis we get on it, particularly from Brian and Carled - delivered with a certain style. I quite like my image of them as grumpy snow trolls who need ego tickling to provide some views on specific locations and timescales, and that by asking those questions you run the risk of castigation for being presumptious to assume weather models tell you anything about specifics.
A bad result would be that they retreat into their caves (cos they're being told to chill the f*** out) and only talk each other on meterological forums and we miss out on all the fun.
Pretty sure they're not that thinskinned though... |

being a long time stalking this site. looking, learning, clicking on all the links, driving myself mad, just waiting for my chance, and here it goes...
Am heading to Saalbach tomorrow and have being keeping an eye on the various sites, this one ,the wiggles on the GSF charts, wetter, local weather system chart etc. and today on temps and humidity figures.By nearly all accounts there is snow of some level expected over the austrian alps in the next 24hrs thereabouts. the temps are dropping, the rh is getting nice and low and clouds are rolling in (sat images checked too.)
But still, is it possible for it not to snow? The weather on the saalbach site is giving a 70% chance. This worries me. But I am easily worried ,given the roller-coaster of possible megadumps, lots of snow dumps , abit of snow, down to moderate snow falls that have being predicted, counter-dicted, in the last week or 2.
basically, from my reading of the situation is
a: looks like it might snow, not crazy amounts but a nice bit
b: nothing can be absolutly certain for a specific area
c: snow dances may or may not work to please the gods, but theres no harm in trying.
Help me sleep and tell me it will snow...........

You can't "disbelieve" the wigglies. There's nothing to believe, or disbelieve. They are what they are; the result of a particular set of computer wizardry applied to data which no long exist. They are, if I understand it correctly, just the outcome of a mathematical snapshot. The whole system is dynamic, and the computer has been given a whole load of heroic assumptions about the nature of the dynamism. Of course things will change.
Just look back at the last week; the next week will probably be equally full of ups and down and new wigglies. Won't stop me looking at them though....

See Fruity, you're actually in quite a good position if the charts come off as they're heading at the moment as the whole warm/cold clash has scooted off East (as I believe I may have already mentioned. Stop me if I'm boring you) and this has upped the chance of serious snow over there. Just had a look at the "wiggly" chart for KG and it is currently looking mighty fine indeed for you. See:

I hope this works........... the wigglies were right. Cathy...... keep the faith. They're just jealous..

Oh and, guess what? Yeah, Snow-Forecast don't know how much is gonna fall either. Isn't it exciting? |
and more to the point neither do you. now that's what i call exiting. |
And even more to the point, I don't ever claim to know, whereas snowguess does. You're not very good at this arguing thing are you? I notice that you managed to completely miss Pam W's point as well in that she was pointing out that, had you paid much attention to this thread, you'd have seen that neither I nor Brian ever predict any exact amounts of snow, as it's impossible to do and yet, in response to her point, you say you have been reading the thread since December and that she is, in fact, agreeing with you...?
So to recap, you have been reading the thread for months and yet you still seem to think that I believe I can predict how much snow can fall? Is English your second language? If so, I apologise profusely. If not, you are dumber than spam fritters.
And it's "exciting" not "exiting" by the way. Good effort on the spelling mistake when quoting my post with the word in question included...
