Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Has Anyone Used Their Tesco Pts on Avios? (Formerly Air Miles)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Tesco havn't done a transfer bonus to Avios for over a year.

There is a current transfer bonus to Virgin miles. The normal conversion rate is 250 Tesco points = 650 virgin miles. However until the 5th of Sept you will get 20% more points.

Although if you're lucky enough to be on their premium legacy rate you get a permanent 800 Avios per £2.50 in Clubcard vouchers Happy

Ebay ...................... 50 HP 377 empty carts are £50 or near offer. This equates to 5000 Tesco Points when recycled, which in turn gets you 12000 Avios. snowHead

So is this as good as it sounds?? Just buy 50 hp 377 empty carts on ebay, then where do I sell them for 5000 Tesco points???

kitenski, Tesco have a Recycling Factory.... http://www.therecyclingfactory.com/tesco/ You'll need to get some prepaid envelopes from them, or buy some quite cheap from Ebay. Any Tesco Clubcard member can recycle up to 100 empty cartridges per year, and the HP337 are worth 100 Tesco points. The potential is 12000 Avios per 50 empty carts. That's 24000 Avios each year if you recycle 100 of the qualifying cartridges. Check out Tesco list of these.

Some things to note about the ink cartridge recycling.

TheRecyclingFactory isn't owned or operated by Tesco, they are contracted to handle Tesco's recycling.

The T&C have recently changed to reflect that many people have simply been buying from eBay and either getting the eBay user to ship directly to TRF (to save postage), or have been receiving the box of 50/100 carts, putting a new label on it, and shipping it to TRF. The new Term inserted in the last month is:-

"Any customer suspected of purchasing cartridges from commercial websites will be in breach of these terms & conditions as cartridges have been purchased in bulk and therefore cannot be deemed as personal use."

So if you are buying from eBay, don't be tempted to send in bulk to TRF, and don't use the same box with your suppliers name on it.

Get some of the envelopes from tesco stores, and ship in 4s and 5s or whatever fits into an envelope.

Tangey, There is a condition on the Gold Card saying you do not get the welcome bonus (assuming thats the 20000 points) if you have taken out another amex rewards card within 6 months. Does the BA amex come under that? I've tried contacting amex, to no avail. Ive had the BA amex for 2 months, but was just going to use the gold card to boost my points, then cancel it.

Top cashback site is working very will for me - only wish I had found it sooner!!

No, it only applies if you hold or have held an Amex card that generates MR points. The BA Amex card generates Avios directly and so holding that doesn't exclude you from getting a signup bonus for an MR generating card such as the gold card.

When you take out the gold card, you should hold it and use it for the full year, as it doesn't cost you anything. Any spend in a supermarket or a filling station gets 2 points per £ spent, which is more that the 1.5 points per £ spent on the BA Amex card.

Also .......... eRewards the opinion/survey site is associated with Avios. Collect eReward points for doing consumer surveys which then get converted to Avios. There's some free Avios points available as well.

holidayloverxx, There was a 750 Avios complimentary recently, just had to claim and link the eRewards with the Avios account.

BTW, as regards the Ebay ink cartridges, it's still a cost effective way of accruing Avios fairly quickly. I sold my remaining HP364's and bought some HP337's which should cover the cost of a return European flight for one. snowHead

kitenski,

I can't remember how I got involved (probably IHG hotel reward club), but from the website:
Q. How do I join e-Rewards?
A. Joining e-Rewards is FREE and by invitation only. Our Sponsors send invitations to their customers inviting them to join the programme. If you've provided your email address to one of our Sponsor companies, you could receive an invitation to join e-Rewards.

There is some very easily attainable avios to be had from surveys.

Avios.com has two partners, rewards for thoughts, and e-rewards.
Sign-up for both, do 1 survey each.

http://www.avios.com/gb/en_gb/collect/erewards/erewards?from=collectNav
http://www.avios.com/gb/en_gb/collect/rewards-for-thoughts?from=collectNav

use your avios account number. Use a different email for each one.

You get 750 avios after your first erewards survey, and 600 avios after your first rewards for thoughts survey

Go to ba.com, and sign up for e-rewards again.
https://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/collecting-avios/shopping
(it's at the bottom of that page).

Use your ba executive number, and use a different email address.

3 surveys later, and you'll end up with 2100 avios, although it might take a while before you can claim them. Not bad for 20-25 mins.

If you have a partner, repeat the process.

I see that Top Cash Back have brought back their 500 Tesco clubcard points bonus, for new members that generate £10 of cashback.

I've updated my TCB tutorial, showing how to generate £49.50 of cashback for a £10 outlay. Convert that to Tesco clubcard points, and add in the 500 extra Tesco points that TCB will give you as a new member, and you'll end up with enough tesco points for over 13,000 Avios.
