R32, I haven't seen a car with chains on today, must all have winter tyres on. They are doing a good job of clearing the roads but the snow is still coming down!

Good to see it's arrived - it must have been hanging on for Easiski to get home first!

Well, it was a big dump and was snowing off and on all day and is still continuing. I didn't even try to move my car this morning, but that did mean that I had to walk up the hill in ski boots carrying skis, just after putting my back out doing nothing. Of course it turns out that Gian-Luca is now away for a week so if it's not better tomorrow I'll have to go and see Thiery Dentent. He's OK but it's not the same.
We were skiing on the Coolidge in town today, which was deffo a bonus and the pic is from the top of that, with one of my students floundering in the deep snow!
More tomorrow. Oh - and it may be nice on Weds but snowing again after that - R32 & Paul McK will have lots of deep to play in.

Looking good! R32, you have dropped lucky going out on the 5th. Sorry to miss you this time but the 10th isn't all that far away now. I'm so excited a bit of wee could come out at any moment. Smokin Joe, lampbus, plenty of empty apartments in town next week. Get your sorry backsides on the Easyjet. Your friends will be waiting for you at the top of the Jandri. 11th Dec, 9.01am - be there, not square. I have some new jokes, by the way.

Was getting a little worried by the slight lack of snow that seems to be reported in some places - those pics make me feel better tho. Will be checking this on a daily basis me thinks!
Roll on the 17th!

I took this yesterday fromhalf way up the Lutins where I was working all morning. Obviously some wear and tear going on, but still the snow was nice and skiing in the town was possible.
I've just seen Lizzard & Mr Lizzard who are well, and have been up, saying that the conditions were good but the light was flat today. With my back being bad at the moment, and the miracle worker away until Monday I doubt if I'll be going anywhere I don't have to until after that. Been to see another guy and it's better, but he's not so good.

easiski, I do hope your back's better soon - it is so miserable trying to function when it's bad. Great pic!

ArseCaptain, Pre-Christmas, the DAL run a few "core" lifts which access most of the terrain, but some areas remain closed, viz: the area known as La Fee, the whole Pied Moutet side of the village, and down into the Voute. Unsure whether Mont de Lans chairlift runs pre-Christmas - it may do for the benefit of locals at certain times (wouldn't bet on it though). that said, though, there's a lot available between 1650m and 3600m, and with fresh snow to roll around in, you probably won't get bored in a hurry.
I'm hoping for a bit of freeze-thaw over the next few days to consolidate a base between 1650 and 2100, followed by a big heap of fresh next Thursday night. Good conditions on the face equals no need to go anywhere else until you have pisted it out all by yourself...
easiski, hope your back improves - bad luck
L2A webcam showing nice wet snow falling in the village - just what we need. Forecast to carry on into tomorrow before drying up for a bit.

I've just noticed: ArseCaptain, what an appalling image your username conjures up in my mind. Or are you a petomane? And if so, is this the smiley equivalent of a straining expression?:
Nonetheless, a cordial and polite welcome to Snowheads.

Coolidge I and II
Village
Jandri Express
Jandri II
Telecorde
Lac Noir
Signal
Puy Salie I
Skiable back to resort via the Valentin, and possibly off-piste depending on how much more snowfall we've had, but I wouldn't risk my skis on it judging by what I saw yesterday.

Mm mm. And what a lovely steak it was. Or was that the couple of pints of amstel?
Looking ahead to both of our powder carving abilities (not) being tested to the limits. Might need to top the hip flask up.

Had a very good day today! As easiski said, snow was great, and visibility generally quite bad. But it did clear a bit towards the end of the day

Staying in Grenoble tonight, will probaby head back to 2 Alpes tomorrow unless one of the more local resorts is looking good!

At the moment the sky is clear, it's sodding freezing and we see the full range of stars. Parents have requested that I hit the market tomorrow morning for saucisses with âne in order to ingratiate themselves with their French teacher ...... I fear this may have to wait until next week.

It's a lovely day today. I'm not going up but others are, and hopefully they'll bring news and photos later. Working again tomorrow though, so I'll try to remember the camera (the phone makes everything so blue and pink!

I was up around midday on the Cretes. Some parts were getting a bit thin (only grass underneath though), but the snow was really nice. The light was fairly flat and it was dull, but still really pleasant. This afternoon it's been raining, and the 0degs isotherm is quite high for the next day or two. Should be snowing higher up though, and if it doesn't last too long it may help to compact the base layer that we now have.

I'm afraid to say it rained all last night and all day today in the village. I'm sure it was snowing higher up, and the runs into resort are showing some brown bits, hopefully it won't last long though and will turn to snow again. No pix for obvious reasons.

Looking much better today, although I heard it isn't all that good up top, it's clear that lots of snow fell at altitude. Sadly R32 and Ex Pat have just left. Safe journey home guys.

Hi - I finally have got my act together and am doing what I'd said I do for years - find out which snowheads will be around in the week I'm going! Me, Mrs Dhansak and the 2 bhajis will be out between Christmas and the new year and we've had a flat here for 7 years and really should mingle more with other regulars ( I don't usually play well with others, ask easiski ). So if anyone fancies a morning ski (the little ones will be in ski school) or a apres beer at some point. Let me know - maybe we can nominate a time/place?
