rayscoops, well only 16 now - I'm getting there on the Friday morning and skiing with Heike so we can hopefully get our ski legs sorted out before the course starts on the Sunday!
Have you sorted out your accommodation yet? I had a phone call from Frau Wilhelm last week saying that she had lots of people asking about accommodation and wondering if Heike, Sleipnir and I were filling up the apartment with A.N. Other. I had to tell her that I didn't know! It seems a lot of people are booking up pre-Christmas weekends. Distance from the apartments to the Tirolerhof is 1.5kms by the way.
Another warm day today with the forecast saying up to 22°C on the north side of the Alps but with storm-force winds over the peaks! A real Föhn storm which usually means it will break pretty soon. Unfortunately the current 3-day forecast does not back up that theory

I go Ischgl Austria 3 days at 27 Novembre. Is snow be there this time? I go for party so maybe not important but it be nice to be ski also. First time in this place but people speak it very fun.

Shades, Try the tourist office - I am staying in a self-catering flat on someone else's recommendation. But as we were there for the World Cup opening weekend I noticed that there were loads of B&B's
Shouldn't be a problem to organise something in your price bracket and as it is quite warm here currently I think the expected rush may not materialise!

I am coming to austria on Dec 5th. we are a bit worried about the snow conditions now.
We don't know where to go - St. Anton or Solden.
We'll appriciate any thoughts on the subject.

It's still extremely warm down here. At least for this time of a year. On weekend I was on Moelltal, and on 3100m it was more then +5c quite early on morning already. So we have everything but perfect conditions up in hills at the moment.

Am in Bad Gastein.
The opening has been put back from 7th November to 4th December.
Very strong föhn wind at the moment. Windows are shaking and I've never known that before.
Some snow forecast but doubt it will be a lot.

It's been raining (upto 2200m) heavily for about 8 hours solid here in Bad Gastein.
This wasn't forecast at all by Metcheck or snow-forecast. meteox.co.uk forecast 100mm for today so seems closer to the truth.
Dorfgastein (15k north of here) is dry and sunny.

Same here. The wind last night blew all our rubbish all over the village!!!. But it is not raining here.
Where about are you in Gastein?? What are you doing there?
We often go to the spa baths only about 35 mins away from us. I like the Gastein valley.

Hi, I'm heading to Kaprun/Zell am See at the weekend for a week. I'll ski the Kitsteinhorn Glacier but is there any other areas near by that have and are holding snow that I should check out. Any info would be gratefully welcomed.

Just back from Soelden yesterday,yes very strong foehn wind on Sunday, heavy rain when we left the resort yesterday. On Sunday up on the glacier there was fresh snow falling for most of the day.

Checking the webcams for Ellmau and Brixen this morning and there seems to have been a bit overnight, not sure how much, but at least everything is white now! Hope it lasts and there's more.

hammerite, We are staying in Going and our friends are in Ellmau. We've not been there before, have you? We have been away for Christmas for the last 3 years (France) and the snow has always been great. Thought we'd have a change of country this year, so I'm hoping that change doesn't bite us in the bum! I hope the temperatures at least drop enough so they can get the cannons on.

Avago, Snow wa sgreat in Austria the last couple of years too.
The Ski Welt webcams are showing all nice and white today, but how much there is I'm not sure. They were green yesterday.
Where are you staying in Going? I was at the hotel Blattlhof last March.

Avago, Never been to Ellmau before, or to Austria. This is only my second trip, although the OH has been to a fair few resorts in Europe and Austria, Ellmau is also a new one for her. We're staying at the Alpenhof.
We went away the same week last year to AdH and the conditions were great.
