Christopher, many resorts are not due to open till 15 December, and many of those won't open till then, or not open very much, however much snow there is. Only those liable to be getting enough punters to make it worth the enormous cost will open before the planned date. Of course some resorts do plan to open earlier - such as Tignes.

OMG i'm in shock! I'm at home as i have some serious ankle problems and am in lots of pain so cant ride, which is a totall bummer as there is
KNEE HIGH SNOW ON MY DRIVE WAY!!!!!!
It looks incredible out there! I can hear they are blasting the mountain but it is still snowing heavily and it is supposed to carry on all day.
My poor dog (who has had to have an operation on her other leg, same op as last year typical!) hasn't been taken down for her morning wee, but cant walk and cant walk in the snow! Not sure how its gonna work today!

Just come back from Monetier having started at 9 am. Truly wondrous snow conditons today with a new 30 -40cms covering all of yesterdays tracks. Beautiful, fluffy, soft powder a rare treat. A photo of Mrs Chris enjoying herself, this morning.

Helen Beaumont, Kevin Byrne is at his place in Briancon and couldn't get out of the drive this morning to come skiing with us! Roads not good. Hopefully it will be OK in the morning when he can come to Montgenevre with us. Its still snowing now.

How cold is it on the piste at the moment?
It is an absolutly stunning area. One day in the summer i'd love to walk from the bottom of the lauteret near la grave on the river romanche (i think) and over the back into monetier. The claree valley is also stunning. Ive fallen in love with the area. Trying to convince my parents to go there next summer for our possibly last family holiday(not that anyone is thinking about the summer at the moment).

just to let you know i went out at 10 and it had just started snowing agin. There is now a good 4cm on my drive! Looks like i'll be clearing snow again tomorrow! FAB!

this morning at 8.30 it was -10 when my hubby went up to work at the cafe soliel! he's very happy to be starting work now and has taken all his gear with him so he can ride down the luc when he finishes! Lucky b!

15th dec
what a great morning! first lift up from chantemerle and freshies all over the place. Pistes are very nice, not hard and well groomed. Quite a lot of people here today more than last year. The luc alphond was closed but we rode it anyway, well we rode the off piste for most of it just finished on the wall!
All in all very satisfactory. Just gonna feed the child and go back up when she has her snowboarding lesson.
Took a couple of pics but dont have time to up load them now, will do tonight!

light covering of fresh this morning, should be lovely up there today as the weekenders have all gone.
I, however will not find out as i start work today. I also maybe out for most of the season as saturdays riding has left me struggling to walk on that damm ankle of mine.
Just about to call the docs.
Nervous as hell this morning re work, i'm sure it will be fine but i have that 'i'm starting a new job feeling' and 'i really hope my french holds out' feeling!
