Pamski Sorry you're leaving. You've been a great source of information to me and the other snow heads on this forum - thanks so much!!!
I thought I had manoeuvred around all the half term crowds but with different dates for Ireland, UK and French I think I need a spreadsheet for next year

Our flight has been cancelled due to high winds
Luckily they are busing us to a different airport so instead of arriving in LG tonight at 11 we arrive tomorrow at 11:30
We'll miss the best of the morning but could have been a lot worse!

Heavy snow now in Chatel at 1200m and settling nicely everywhere - still a question mark as to how much we will wake up to in the morning.

Flight cancelled in Cork. Transferred to Dublin.
All flights into Cork were diverted to Shannon while we were there.
Saw a couple of attempts at landing and all I can say is that I'm glad I wasn't out there!!!

Just been woken by the best alarm clock in a ski resort...Snow plough rumble! Been falling for a lot of the night after heavy rain early evening. Night skiers reported heavy snow fall at 8pm up top. We have about 15-20cm approx (looking from my bed through the window)outside in the village. Still big flakes falling hard and fast.

9cm measured fresh snow depth here in Chatel at 1200m 7.30am) - so hoping for double that higher up. Snow showers affecting the area could give further snowfall today. Lot of wind last night and a lot of blasting going on this morning (again).
Saw some big slides yesterday in Barbossine bowl and on Morclan face - not sure if set off by pisteurs or not, but looked scary.
Big range of forecasts for tomorrows snowfall. Meteo France have 37.5cm for upper mountain - but that is not backed up by other models at the moment.

Further snow in Chatel this morning has added to the overnight cover making 12cm in Chatel at 1200m since yesterday eve. Very difficult to tell higher up as there was a blizzard blowing on the upper half of the mountain at Linga and Pre La Joux - maybe 25cm fresh? Avoriaz reporting 40cm fresh overnight at 1800m - which appears to be higher than what we witnessed at PLJ this morning - but the gale up there is making verification and measurement impossible.

About 15cm on top of the piste in places today around Morzine Les Gets. We were in and out of cloud and blustery wind till lunch time, then beautiful clear views and sunshine for the rest of the afternoon. The Tulipe and Arbis were in great condition. Good fun!

Update re today in morzine. Arrived here yesterday for 6 days. It had snowed 20cm or so the night before according to the taxi drive (Sunderland deude). We didn't venture out on pistes yesterday deciding instead to watch the rugby in dicks bar. In any case there was light rain for most of the evening however it obviously turned to snow later in night as it was still snowing this am and up to lunch time, wud estimate another 10cm. We ventured up pleny lift and spent most of day between Les Gets and morzine. Really nice conditions once the snow and clouds cleared at lunch time. More snow forecast for tonight so looks good for anyone coming out this week.

Great to hear! I will be joining you in Morzine tomorrow! Cannot wait! We arrive late afternoon/early evening so will be heading onto the slopes Tuesday first thing - probs hitting the Avoriaz side as our rental is at the Super-Morzine Bubble. If you see a distinctly average skier wearing a Black Helly Hansen ski jacket, red hat and red anon goggles then give me a shout... chances are it won't be me and you'll look like a prime weirdo but hey you never know!

Hope everyone has a good time for the next four weeks - now back in the UK and just watching Chemmy on TV, I can see the next few days disappearing in the same way that they did during the London Olympics... we got on the road quite early yesterday after the snowplough came up at 4 a.m. - always a good sign though.

Zavorduck, there was about 10cm of snow Between sat night and yesterday lunchtime. Over in avoriz all am, dull sky's and a bit chilly but great piste conditions. Just started to snow now so we may have a short afternoon! Rain forecast for morzine village level this pm. All in all very good conditions despite some of the 'doom mongering' posted on various web sites

Sneachta2013 Spent the day up and down the Les Get's / Morzine runs. Beautiful conditions light very flat - thankful of Orange Lenses
Started snowing around 1pm and just made it all the more fun, although there was a cloud bank half way down the slopes that brought visibility down to around 10m!
The runs back to the village were scrapped to ice by the time we got down just after 4. Still light flurries at village level.
Snowing continuously from 1pm to 4pm above Chavennes (sorry don't have heights!

Utterly gorgeous morning on the slopes. Got first lift all the way up Chamossiere in the sunshine and then heading down Le Creux and back to the Ranfoilly bowl where it was snowing slightly and the faux off piste down the sides of the slopes were untracked. Talking about off piste there are a couple of huge cracks out and about, scary stuff.
As usual I was down by 1030. Hope all the people out here on holiday are enjoying the great conditions.

Fantastic conditions in Chatel today.
Copy of our forecast update from the site below. Looking very mild on Saturday but some differences between Met Office and GFS model runs this evening mean differences in potential amounts and snow /rain limits and loads of uncertainty, especially on Friday/Saturday.
"Last night's snowfall was pretty much in line with what the models were suggesting and Meteo France have a general figure of 20cm falling over the Chablais area.
There is further snow in the outlook over the next week, but we may also see a much milder and perhaps wet period during the period between Friday and Saturday. The details on this are still quite sketchy at the moment and there are some notable differences between the models this evening, but the snow / rain limit may be over 2000m for a period on Saturday before falling to nearer 1000m on Saturday night / Sunday. That is still a long way off and before then, there is a chance of some light snow in the early hours of tomorrow bringing a dusting and then some significant snow is possible on Thursday. There is still plenty of uncertainty regarding what the snow/raiin limit is going to do on Thursday / Thursday night and on Friday too, but we will have a look at that on tomorrow evening's update."

Amazing snow on top of perfectly groomed pistes today on the Pleney. Where was everyone?!?!?
Busier on the Avoriaz side this afternoon, but the snow was still soft by the end of the day. So much fun we missed the super Morzine down, so had to take the new Prodains express, which worked perfectly.
What a day!

Had a mixed few days in Les Gets last week. Arrived Tuesday night at midnight and went out drinking until very late....why???? Wednesday was a white out with icy pistes so we boarded for around 3-4 hours but that was about it really. It snowed from around tea time until the next day and Thursday was one of those blue sky powder days you dream about.
It started snowing mid afternoon and basically snowed right through until the following night but it was this awful wet snow that was more like paper mache. With the lack of visibility, being soaked to the bone and moguls like superglue we called it a day at lunch time and decided to drink coffee in the bear until around 3 and then a few bottles of red in the george. The snow eased up and our final day on saturday had much better visibility and another great day all round. Flew home saturday night having drank far too much and skiied far too little but unfortunately that is what my lads trip seems to be turning into so roll out the family trip to tignes in March
Les Gets is quickly becoming one of my favourite resorts and we will be back next year without doubt.
