@dan100, from memory I think there may be some disabled spaces right by the area where the bus turns, but before the barrier. I'll try to check tomorrow.

I've had a look now @dan100 and there is a single disabled space where I said: on the right by the bus barrier and WCs. It says GIC card holders so might be worth double checking that your card has equivalence. The space wasn't in use today.

Just doodling with the weather on my phone, so not a full forecast. But a bit of snow tonight and a bit more late Friday. Overall it’s cooling down and becoming more unsettled. But the synoptic chart is complex and varied so any forecast over a couple of days is likely to change every time the ‘puters spit a run out. Meteo France currently has a one out of five confidence in its forecast for Sunday. Later next week currently looks more unsettled with perhaps a couple of retour d’est. As I type they are only weak, but as we saw in Jan they are capable of confounding everybody, so fingers crossed!

We might go to tignes and ski in tignes for the day before picking him up when he finishes work at 6 With the car parks for a day’s parking can you turn up take a ticket in the car park (levachet) and pay when you lravr, or do you have to go the parking office in de lac. Thanks

Hi @dan100, if you are here outside of the busy periods (half term, Easter) then what you say is indeed the easiest thing to do. Lavachet does allow parking by the hour but Le Lac 3 is nicer to get changed in.
I saw a family using the disabled space by the WCs in VC today to get their daughter onto the snowfront in her sit ski. Chatted briefly and they mentioned that there are two more disabled spaces on the right as you approach the bus barrier, about 50 metres before the barrier. I had a look and this is indeed the case.

I am an observer, rather than a correspondent on this forum, which is brilliant btw! ... only get the chance to come to Tignes for one week each year... normally try to avoid school holidays... forced to come this week for reasons beyond control.... anyway... I thought it was relatively quiet bearing in mind the second week of Paris half term? Or was it because it was day 1 and a chilly afternoon? We loved it anyway!

Yea sorry for the bad news but think being a chilly pm and Sunday being the second quietest day of the week all conspired to make it a 'quiet' day out there today.

For the Mountain Shaker you just need to watch out for competitors in their oversize bibs haring toward the ‘start/entrance” on the skiers’ left of DoubleM - they’re never slow and it was noticeably hairy navigating the narrower DoubleM with the added hazard of MS competitors.
On the plus side, it’s great spectating down Double M

Back in resort and had a good blast around today. The conditions are no way near as bad as I expected due to all the doom and gloom posts!
Hire some shaped skis and enjoy the pistes or the off piste which is not much different.

Hello from the Met Office at Manchester Airport where its miserable and rainy (well it's Lancashire innit?).
@stewart woodward, Are you out Friday night - book me a spot if you are and can!
Well after 3 and a half weeks in Blighty it seems not much has happened on the weather front (pun intended). But changes are afoot next week sometime, backed up by the jetstream forecast we should see the start of a week or so of unsettled and cooler weather, but there is much disagreement about when its going to arrive so ignore any dead certs about large snowfalls and tipping points from Tuesday, it might be a couple of days later and it may intensify or it may do the opposite.
Meanwhile, there may be a few flocons in the wee hours tonight but tomorrow will be a mix of cloud and sunny intervals, positive temps during the day and a cheeky north-easterly at altitude. Frantic Friday will be a bit cooler but sunny for the last day of the Vacances Scolaire. Saturday will be a nice transfer day (apart from the jams), perhaps a few fluffy clouds in the afternoon. Sunday will be likewise. Hopefully the models will decide to agree over the next few days, change is afoot for sure, we may have to be patient.

We’ve also just arrived back after 2 weeks in the UK while avoiding some of the peak school holidays.
The pistes are fine but when you know what they were like 2 weeks ago and what the snow levels are normally like at this time of year
It’s now stopped snowing and only a few cm on the outside table but everything looks much better.

We're now in the "next month" phase of coming out. Easter sadly is the only time we can make it, but soooo looking forward to it after missing out in the first covid year, and then not getting organised since.
Fingers crossed for some decent weather between now and then, but to be honest any snow will be good snow!!

Hi all - sorry another parking query. I’m staying at the UCPA w/c 19 March. I was planning to drop my bags off then head back down the mountain to Les Boisses (or elsewhere) to park for free and get the buses up. It seems from the first couple of posts here that that isn’t possible anymore. Can anybody who’s been in resort this year clarify whether this would be possible?
Thanks!

@Bordtea, short answer: no, it's not possible.
A training colleague has amassed over €300 in fines over the last couple of weeks because he imagined he could park for free in Blondin (Tignes 1800 and no barriers) or in the street.
Please read the post on page 1, which is as up-to-date as I can manage and last edited a week ago.

Well it was very spring like down the Valley as I popped down for the 'big shop'. I also squeezed in a trip to the Sapaudia Brewery to watch the alchemy of brewing Lost in the Woods. Looking forward to test driving that!
Very busy out on the slopes this afternoon as I stacked the shopping. So, now for the weather, tomorrow and Sunday are going to be very much like today, there might be a few fluffy clouds on Sunday afternoon. It cools down a bit on Monday and the wind will. be more noticeable as the weather starts to change. The highest lifts may be shut thanks to a gusty wind building above 3000m. Tuesday will start bright but expect increasing amounts of cloud through the day and light snow to arrive from just after the lifts shut, again a stiff breeze to watch out for. There is still much debate about later in the week and the timings of the snow and expected depths. There is a competing battle between 2 lots of high pressure over the UK and North Africa and 2 lows over the Bay Biscay and Eastern Europe. We are in the middle of these competing forces squeezing each other in a 4 way metaphorical (or meteorological) arm wrestling competition, so there is not much confidence in the detail, only the outlook. The apps are going to ebb and flow, but yes its going to snow and be windy from Tuesday night onwards, but its not going to be that cold, indeed it could well be raining heavily in the lower resorts on Thursday, if the european system is to be believed, the US one has no precipitation. Tricky stuff.
The travel tomorrow, 32k vehicles coming up the valley, so delays (similar to the last week of Jan) and 33k going home. So get out early or have another day. On the bright side there are plenty of crocuses to look at as you crawl down the valley! Flying should see no weather issues unless the mist at Chambery proves to be thicker than forecast, but it shoild be gone by 9 anyway.

Good catch up with @chocksaway, last night over dinner the queue de cochon in lavachet. Excellent food as usual and limited amount of drink to allow for a early start this morning.
Lots of piste skiing ranging from blues to blacks and a few offpiste forays. The pistes are just fantastic and for the first time this season a little soft spring snow was encountered.
The off piste was surprisingly good with a little spring snow and even more surprisingly a few powder turns just off the side of the pistes.
Looking forward to more sunshine tomorrow.

@stewart woodward, Snap!
Out early doors for a couple of runs down a deserted Palafour and then met up with a group to head to Solaise. The pistes are in very good nick, with the odd exception. We even did Santons which is narrow but with nobody on it fun was to be had. Coffee at Solaise Lounge was good and then a wander round Solaise and then down Arcelle where I did find a patch of ice about a metre Square. L is still closed so Germain Mattis and even the Traversee de Laisinant was firm so not much pushing. Up the Bellvarde and down to la Rosee Blanche for a late lunch. A tour round the Palet completed a grand day out.
The weather: tomorrow a carbon copy of today and Monday very similar but with a stiff breeze particularly in the afternoon. Tuesday is where it starts to get tricky as the complex weather systems gather pace. It might be sunny in the morning or there might be a thin veil of cloud at high altitude, but the cloud will thicken later in the day and it will start snowing after dark. Oh and the re is a French General Strike so a few lifts will be shut. Wednesday will be a whiteout with snow and high winds, as there may be 30cm overnight expect things to be very slow and the avalanche risk rises dramatically. Beyond that it gets a bit warmer with lots of precipitation, the Appps are going to be like random number generators on snow. But on Thursday, it may well be sleet in Val during the day, it is likely to be rain in Brev, and Meribel centre will be awash. Its all still a bit uncertain in the details - stay tuned.
Travel tomorrow - no snags. Might be a bit drizzly in the UK and misty down in the Valley, but it will be glorious up here, have the sunnies handy in the hand luggage!

There's been spring snow several times over the last 4 weeks with the warm conditions. Hit the right sun-bathed aspect somewhere between 12.30 & 2 and it's been lovely.
