Very fetching! What tour were you doing for that packing list?
You know it makes sense.

It's from a spreadsheet that I keep tweaking each year. That's the latest version, so it must be from our last tour round Mont Thabor, just a little further down the Maurienne from Bessans, where that pic was taken.
A trip report:

We might be doing some glacier work next year so I really need to get another harness. My old climbing one is too bulky and heavy really. And there are some obscenely light harnesses about these days.

We are really discussing mountineeering now and I wholeheartily approve. However I never have a "standard" pack and always choose what I will carry on what the days objectives are (sadly, I have never actually tried ski mountaineering, but would love to give it a go). Before packing my bag I always keep the following in mind:
More daylight equates to greater safety
More speed equates to greater safety
Less weight equates to greater safety
Knowing where you are equates to greater safety
With that in mind everything has to justify its place in the sack.

In your list altis, You have nearly 1.3 kilos of 'bling' which you've decided ISN'T essential?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?
I've only called it 'bling' 'cos I can't spell 'miscellaneous'
Most of that is still essential. My camera (and case) is the only extravagence. I could go with something smaller but it's difficult finding something else I like to use. The others pull my leg that all the weight I've saved by using a bin-bag of a rucksack is wasted again on my camera.

altis, aww and there was me hoping that you like to slide dripping in chunky Cuban gold.
In the process of scaling back my elderly camera gear to something more modern and portable - I'm a favourite stop at customs as the Xray is very interested in a case full of wires, batteries, bits of metal and nondescript electronics.
