-4 and clear this morning ....yesterday snow all the way to Annecy which made for slow traffic to see the xmas market which had no xmas decs to buy which upset Mrs Rredrun.......

boredsurfin, That piste map makes it even more obvious just how much more isolated Montalbert has become without the Coqs chairlift. Surely this is a retrograde step? Even with the new gondala planned I can't help feeling that many people will take one look at Montalbert's location on the piste map and just book elsewhere. I loved skiing in Montalbert in 2012 and the only thing that would make me think twice about returning was the fact that it felt like a bit of a flog to get over to the bulk of the skiing. It's going to be even worse now 
Please tell me I'm over-reacting.

foxtrotzulu, possibly BUT the new Gondola will take 7 minutes alledgedly, BUT it really depends on how long the queue will be, the lift co have said publicly that a wait time of 45 mins is acceptable during the peak weeks 
There is, as you alluded to, a distinct possibility that Montalbert will become a quiet backwater of Paradiski, great for some but not for others!

I was looking earlier as well, most of the webcams are now on. We can now watch as of tomorrow morning folks slushing about

As I'm coming out on the 4th and hoped to get from plan Peisey to Montealbert this time, I can now see where Coqs was on my 2 year old piste map, why has it been taken out and where would this gondola go, is it a replacement for the Coqs chair?

stevew, for this winter you need to use the La Roche chair to access the main area from Monty. The gondola is due to be ready for the 14/15 winter season

stevew, The new 8 man Gondola goes from Montalbert village to the right of the top of the Fornelet lift in a theoretical 7 minutes but you will have to queue up to 45 mins at peak times. Shuttle busses are being introduced to bring the skiers from Montalbert 1600 and 1800 down to the main village to access the new lift.
Coqs has gone but Montalbert, Fornelet, Fornelet 2 (the drag) and Grangette lifts will all be removed this coming summer and the new lift operational by December.
BUT currently there are some ecological obstacles to overcome and permission to cut the full width track through the forest has not yet been granted.
