Thought I was doing well, now I'm struggling with pre-season impatience - it's been 7 months since last on snow, but only 2 to go........I know its early days but this could be the start of the new season!

feef, That is the Timmelsjoch Pass which is a privately owned and run road going over the Trimmelsjoch from the Ötz valley into Italy. It is often one of the first to close and last to open again. i was up there in July and it was feckin freezing. They just close it now until the end of the winter so as to not have any liability if some dipstick on summer tyres slides off the road (it is pretty hairy in places especially on the Italian side). I was nervous driving up the Italian side on summer tyres last July once I reached about 2000m and descended the Austrian side pretty carefully as well!

Steilhang, I had a beaten-up old Belgium-registered car first behind me, then just in front of me on the ascent. One of my passengers suddenly asked if I could smell "wacky-baccy" and funnily enough I realised I could. I was just about to overtake this heap again, when on one of the hairpins I noticed the driver had one of the biggest spliffs going. So I decided to make a long photo-stop instead to give him the chance of getting so far ahead that if he went off the road it would not involve us! My passengers were hanging out the windows looking for him until we reached Sölden!
Föhn is blowing mighty strong here people, in Canada they call it the Chinook which means "Snow Eater" in the local Indian language! Temperatures are rising really fast now and will continue to stay high through the weekend. but later next week they are predicting a return to more seasonal weather!

Tom W, I beleive thats right, discussed with some people I know there in summer and they said thats the plan. Also Rauz to Trittkopf/ Zurs missing link they think but unconfirmed, still being sorted apparently.
