Weight : 13.5st (can't figure kilos!).
Height : 6' 3"

Experience : Watched snowboading on the telly so I must be an expert!! Had two weeks in La Plagne that have seen me right... for the moment! Done some dry slope skiing in the past but go to Tamworth and MK whenever I can just to keep the summer blues away! Smile.
Competence : Can belt it down blues and some reds like a good 'un and enjoy a bit of off-piste, although I'm not too good at it. Love doing rails and jumps.
Resorts Visited : La Plagne Jan '07 + March '07
Favourite Run/Moment : Mira at La Plagne 'cos it's nice a flowing. Moment? Doing a 7ft gap kicker at MK without losing control - well chuffed that I pulled it off!
Goals : Two against the local pub team the other day... oh, snowboarding-wise it's to be able to do proper tricks and master mogul fields, especially those you find on trickier red runs. Also, to have a good time and just get in the spirit of what has to be one of the friendliest sports around judging by this site!!

Name: Adam
Age: 26
Weight: 115kg
Height: 191cm
Equipment: the almighty Lib Tech Skunk Ape '08 162, Flow M9 bindings, Northwave Decade SL2 boots
Experience: 3 weeks. Want more. Need more. Must snowboard!
Competence: Reasonable. Can carve pretty well and land small air. Learning to butter here and there, and improving confidence on sheet ice (practically a local delicacy in the Salzkammergut) on black runs. Tend to bail now only when pushing myself or if I'm trying to show off for a hot girl (never works) NehNeh
Resorts visited:
  • Borovets, Bulgaria
  • Val Thorens, La France
  • St. Wolfgang, Austria (more of a summer resort really...)
  • Various smaller resorts in southern Germany growing up... but I was on skis... not a waste exactly, just second best.

Favourite Run/Moment:
  • Realising I could carve fairly well all of a sudden.
  • My 30ft jump into 6ft of pow (didn't land it but the feeling was awesome).
  • The otherwordly run down the sketchy black from Cime Caron into Orelle during a vicious ice storm.

This season: 2008 season now over for me Sad I think a trip to Milton Keynes may be in order...
Next season: Canada, baby! Also a quick Euro-trip in December as I won't be able to hold out til February...
Goals:I have a few...
  • Can now ride switch, but could improve a lot.
  • Want to land some decent air (i.e. more than 2 feet off the ground) and get some grabs going on.
  • Also want to get my carving tighter and faster.
  • Further improvements to my confidence straightlining at very high speed.
  • Very keen to improve my off-piste abilities to include the steep & deep (mostly just extra confidence I need here not to lame out on myself in 4ft deep powder).
  • Not that fussed about park, got more of a freeride thing going on, but would like to improve my skills on the rails a little all the same (landed a short U-rail on my first try, but have yet to gather the cojones to try a rainbow-rail).

Name : Helen
Age : 32 for as long as I can get away with it
Weight : Clothes fit so don't check
Height : 5'6
Equipment : Selection of Palmer Boards in various states of repair, "rock-virgin" to "rock-hopper" / Ride Bindings / ThirtyTwos Boots
Experience : 8-9yrs boarding, gave up on skis in favour of boards couple of years ago
Competence : Varys on a day to day basis but no talent what-so-ever for anything park related. Off-piste powder hound, reckless streak reined in by overriding fear of rocks.
Resorts Visited : Chamonix / Tignes / La Plagne / Breckonridge / Verbier / 3Vallees
Favourite Run/Moment : Off piste on La Masse after big snow, powder so deep had to straight-line it from top to bottom. Accidently combat boarding all the way down to Orelle after following random tracks off-piste, got wedged upside-down in a tree well, fell in a stream, broke a new board (and broke my butt...) crashing into a wall, found an abandoned 'summer only' village, got picked up by a kindly school mini bus driver halfway down the mountain who drove us to the gondola - which had shut, 350euro taxi ride to Albertville McDonalds where the 4 of us managed to pool enough pennies for a Happy Meal while waiting for a friend to drive down from VT to pick us up. Quite an adventure
This season : Back to Les Menuires again for the season
Goals : Work through the little red 3V off-piste book & learn to control 'rock fear'
