Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ambitious plans to build a snow jump on a steep street in San Francisco on 27 August are being opposed by a local Hindu monastery. The jump is the key feature of Icer Air 2005, which is scheduled to attract top athletes and thousands of spectators.
"It's totally unsuitable," said Warner Hirsch, a monk at the temple. "We're afraid it will be precedent-setting. This is a quiet neighborhood. This kind of event is not appropriate."

Too right it isn't appropriate! I mean, who built a street in the way of a good ski-jump site!?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The intended ski jump on the streets of Frisco have now annoyed a couple due to get married on the same day, in the same area. This is what the San Francisco Chronicle is saying today:
Quote:
... perhaps no one is more irate than Laurie Beijen and her fiance, Ben Tulchin, who are getting married at the historic Flood Mansion at Broadway and Fillmore the day of "Icer Air 2005."
"I'm a very detail-oriented person," said Beijen, 30, a nonprofit communications consultant. "I checked the dates for the Grand Prix, the Union Street Fair and the marathon. Who'd have thought you'd have to check for a snow jump competition? In August? It's just ridiculous.
I like that "I'm a very detail-oriented person". Very Californian!
