thanks for these lovely photos., liked 25/68/69/70 and avalanches scenes in 126/127.
what dates were you there?
what was the occassion for the black tie event?
did you ski with SCGB rep and if so, do was it?
( just some research - going to Grindelwald in two weeks )

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

hibernia, I suspect that the black tie event was the DHO 80th aniversery dinner held at the Mannlichen restaurant and reached by special cablecar !

Thanks We were in Wengen between 29th January and 5th Feb. The black tie event was the DHO 80th anniversary dinner at Mannlichen. Didn't ski with the resident Ski Club rep - we're regular visitors, and we have the DHO rep in Wengen if we fancy a lazy day. I'd recommend seeking out the SCGB rep though if you're not familiar with the area, as there's such a lot to explore!
Have fun in Grindelwald, snow conditions are brilliant at the moment!

Excellent pix - like the camera setting information, and am impressed with the degree of precision that your digi permits. My trusty non-digi SLR Canon EOS only offers timing settings to within 5sec settings! Does your Samsung let you manually set apperture and shutter speed? If so, did you use it in manual?

Manda none of the cameras used (with the exception of the Cybershot) have manual control. exposure was therefore pot-luck!
Brian T - not sure which one you mean if it's this one it's Hosenplatz, a nice off-piste run down the Lauberhorn. It's not listed on any of the maps, but all the locals can tell you the way down.

Yes there are several good runs off piste down the Lauberhorn, that's one of the easiest, another takes you out by the avalanche boards above wasserstation but if you make a mistake on that route you can end up trapped on the front of the Tschuggen and in need of a helicopter rescue ! Alternatively there are routes down the back but some of those are really dangerous, a friend of mine got trapped in an avalanche on one of those and was fortunate to get away without injury

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Ah sorry Brian, that's Fallboden - red 34 on the map. Goes from midway between Scheidegg & Eigergletscher down to Wixi. The photo is taken from the (painfully slow) chairlift of the same name.
