Wonder if this is realistic prospect or a headline grabber?
From a press report on 15th Oct:-
Two-thirds the height of The Tower, the stunning world class family attraction would be built on the 20-acre Central car park site – once earmarked for the resort's ill-fated supercasino.
Blackpool Council has signed an exclusive agreement with a group of developers who will now investigate the feasibility of a scheme which it is hoped will create more than 3,000 full-time jobs by 2015. Featuring five ski slopes, bars, shops and hotel, Blackpool's winter wonderland – likened to Centre Parcs on ice – would be three times the size of Manchester's Chill Factor ski centre.
With Blackpools track record it will end up as a 25m dry slope!

fatbob, I think you're probs correct on the Blackpool thing but ESF in Courchevel 1850 alone runs into about 500!!!

It will never happen, for many reasons the primary one being its location and local population. CFe is prime site, probably one of the most densely populated areas in the UK and sometimes there are only half a dozen people on the slope mid-week. On the other hand Blackpool is in the middle of nowhere facing the sea.

I still think the best chance the UK had for a really top indoor ski centre was Sheffield. There's a good local population of skiers and outdoor enthusiasts to support it and that hill in the centre where the dry ski slope is would have been ideal, I cant think of another city with that size hill smack bang in the centre. A real shame that their plans never got off the ground.

hmm. Unless my maths have let me down (it's happened before) that works out at a slope about 444m long.
Thats officially a big 'un... Bigger than Snoasis is planned on being (415m)

Drunk fat girls always buy them, you can almost guarantee on a night out in Bolton or Wigan, you will find a lone fat girl, sat in the street, crying, whilst wearing a flashing hat. It helps them look more pathetic.
