Anyone want to share their views on good or bad accommodation in Livigno
My wife and I (both beginners) are planning on going sometime at the end of Feb
Not too noisy, but not in the wilderness, ohh and cheap as possible without being in a cardboard box!
I know it is a really long village, but is there a good end to be at or a bad one to avoid?

The bus system to get around Livigno is pretty good, but most of the shops and bars are down the bottom end, near the lake.
The ski lifts are the whole way along the village, so that's not such a problem.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

And if I remember correctly there are several nursery slopes down in the bottom of the valley, near the hotels and chalets. Sorry can't help on accommodation and are you aware you could have a very long transfer? Livigno is a great place but a bit off the beaten track.

I've heard that the transfer is 5 - 6 hours, I think I can live with that ok, it took me 6 hours to get from Pas de la Casa to Toulouse last year when the coach broke down and I'm still very much alive.
Being from Northern Ireland, our list of available destinations is extremely limited, and Livigno was recommended by a friend.
As we are both relative newbies, I would like to stay somewhere near the ski school
Any help much appreciated.

Hi Brian,
We stayed in Hotel American at the relatively quiet far end of the village. Right opposite 2 button lifts a short traverse from the Main Carosello lift. I found the hotel very good although far away from the main village area there were enough bars to keep us entertained. A taxi is only 6 euros to anywhere in the village and the bus is good through the day. Ski school started opposite our hotel.
Transfer is 5 hrs and includes a 1 hr stop for food half way. I found it to be OK and was definately worth it. Very good snow and relatively quiet.
Is there a Belfast flight this year or are you flying from Dublin?
We are from Coleraine

Alpenroyal Apartments for self-catering. We had a top floor apartment for four. It had separate bedrooms (both doubles), a separate sitting room/kitchen/breakfast area and an excellent bath/shower. For S/C for four people the place was huge.
Here's a link to a trip report I did last year: http://tinyurl.com/2zzeu.

hannah29, Welcome to snowHeads
10 euros for a beer doesn't sound cheap, but if it from a proper brewery let us know more.

Usual crap here in norn iron. you have the choice to fly from Belfast to Tolouse and on to Andorra or stay at home.
Not the Airline's fault really I guess, the population isn't really here, but I was hoping someone would start a new route this year
So yes I will be going from Dublin

I've been twice, great place for beginners. I would suggest that you stay on the carosello side, there's more going on and it's the central business area. Best stay we had was at Hotel Alpi, a two star run by a family, it was centrally positioned, food was good too. I have seen it in a number of brochures. We used to walk a short distance to a bar I think was called Daphne's, mainly cos it was -22 outside, the bar had an elevator down to the loos. Good music played there too. the transfer is long but with some music and a good book it's bearable, beware however of transfers leaving Liv. at 0400 silly o'clock to get home. I have heard that turin is nearer and the transfer from Bergamo to liv. could be done in about 4 hours i reckon in a hire car with no stops. I also heard that the journey is possible from Zurich, but you'd have to look into that.
Tax free shopping on all sorts of things from gadgets to designer clothes.
