As loads of you know the Following Brands were at the EoSB with their range of 09 skis.
ZAG, VIST, Black Crows, Liberty, High Society Freeride, Movement, Radical, Elan and Icelantic.
I'd like to thank all the Brands that came and especially the brands that donated prizes to Snowheads.

Was it Tuesday...
As you say though, it is great that so many of the brands turned up and gave everyone the opportunity to give their new gear a test run (just a shame about the vis on the days it ran - great snow though!)

Arggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg. PM your e-mail and I'll send you the review cards. Anyone else who didn't complete a review card please also PM your e-mail address so I can mail you test cards.
All...There were very few Elan score cards in the 150+ cards returned and I know Elan make some great products. Please remember if you tested a pair of skis and did not return a score card you've got know way of winning the ZAG skis.

I wasn't at the ESOB but tested the Black Crows Virator at the PSB, I really liked them, very cool graphics also. I would love to try the big mountain Black Crow. There was a ski test at Kitzsteinhorn on Friday and Saturday last, first day I was up a little late (10.30am) and there were no skis to test and the second day they finishied at lunchtime so only got to try a pair of Blizzard big mountain skis. They weren't a bad ski.

Did I not test (and enjoy, and write a review about) a ski called the Zag Big?

Nick L, probably. Not all the skis tested are above. Loads more were tested and will be posted in some form over summer. The skis above were just the top 5 (top 7 in all mtn). The ZAG bigs did good in the reviews. 9 review cards for them were handed in so I'm sure your score card is amungst them

You know it makes sense.

Even I tested a couple of pairs .
Here are my comments for what they are worth.
At my level I couldn't do the wider skis justice - I can't remember which Elan Spice ones they were, but they had a turquoise top sheet with a curious silk like feel. However, even I recognised the potential of these wider skis in the slush (and presumably the powder). At the top of the slushy run down to the Cairn gondola in the afternoon they came into their own. I had been unable to do them justice on a decent bit of snow, though clearly they would have turned if I had been able to cope with the extra width - I nearly got it once or twice, but on the slush they were brilliant. The width and the weight just flattened the slushy lumps as though they weren't there (and they had been hard work previously). I think there is now a role for a ski sherpa/caddy someone to carry a pack with extra skis round the slopes for you so that you can change ski type as conditions alter in the day - I want a pair of the Elans when ever it gets slushy.
However, I did satisfy my curiosity and realised that if the skis are sufficiently different to those you normally ski that you can feel a difference. However, the speed magic (also tested) was sufficiently similar to the wave magic to not feel much different (providing you weren't carrying them on your shoulder - boy were they heavy in comparison, mind you so were the spices.) The spices were 10cm longer than I normally ski and the speed magics were the same length

It was a close run thing. There were 22 different ski models tested in the all mountain catagory. The ZAG bigs scored 7.03 out of a possible 10 putting them in the top 50% of the all mountain skis. They Bigs recieved 9 reviews and nobody rated them badly but a couple of testers gave them 5s and 6s which brough down the over all score. They are great skis. The big thing that became apparant at the test was there were no bad skis amungst the brands there.

kiwi1, I believe that sometimes when dealing with such reviews that the highest and lowest review is not included to avoid the situation where some one really liked or really hated a ski for perhaps less than technical reasons. Just a thought

Did anyone test any of the Radical Freeride skis or even the Pro Model snowboard? I would be interested to hear what your thoughts were, good or bad (be gentle!). Thanks to Kiwi1 for taking them out there.

Radical Freeride, I intended to have a go on the snowboard having really enjoyed it at Cas last year http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=28337 however, the snow was so good I wanted the length/width of my board to make the most of it and in the end ran out of time. Sorry.

Swirly, next time I'll send some big Freeride boards out like the "Surf 222!" If you ever want to test the Radical Pro Model again let me know and I can always arrange for you to take one out to the mountains if you are away. Next season I guess!
