Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lizzard, happy to define myself as an uber-loser too - no permanent job since 2005, and now do some freelance work. The plus side - we get more time to be happy Very Happy Very Happy. Honestly Cool snowHead

Buoyed by having had a great season even though 3 weeks is far from enough time and jealous of the stories from johnnyboy et al. coupled with the fact that I'm pretty much free from the start of October I'm planning on spending next season in the mountains. As far as I see it there's two ways to do this: either to work or not to work with advantages and disadvantages to both e.g. working is more sociable but cuts into your time, not working gives plenty of ski time but costs a heck of a lot more. I'd prefer not to work, however, this hangs on finding like minded people to share an apartment with as although I can afford not to work the season I'm not sure I can afford to rent out somewhere just for me!

So does anyone fancy taking 4 months (ish) out to enjoy some serious snow time? Ability is not a pre-requisite (face it after a season you're going to be pretty good) although wanting to have fun is. Currently I've got no concrete plans although I'm favouring L2A due to its proximity to La Grave for off piste and ice climbing as well as the fact I haven't been there before.

I know it's a bit early to be thinking of this especially as this season isn't over yet, but I need something to get me through the summer.

Cheers.

vreynolds, Welcome to snowHead You might be better off starting this as a separate post, it is a bit specialised after all. There is a recent gay themed post in the Apres Zone which may help too.

I don't think whitegold is old. Only somebody young could have so little experience of life to be so obsessed with image.

I'd put it into the trips section. There are a few gay snowHead 's and probably some other who may be interested. jb1970, Whitegold and Latchigo may be interested.

Be warned, doing seasons is more addictive than crack cocaine - and more expensive!

Look at the Tignes 07/08 snow reports for some idea as to what to expect. Try to go to a large ski area, with a good park & loads of off-piste (you WILL get bored of piste-bashing every day), preferably with other resorts near by (the Tarentaise is especially good in this respect). If the resort you are in is popular with Snowheads, all the better - someone to go skiing with (and to buy you drinks - hint, hint!).

I agree with hels t, if at all possible don't work. I've just finished season no.5 in 3vallees as a snowbum and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. Luckily I manage to save enough from working as a contractor through the summer to finance my snow idling lifestyle, but theres plenty of ways to live cheaply, changeover day may be a pain for everyone else but for the snowbum can be a goldmine of free vinchaud & hot dinners...

littleblue, you should really tell us more about your seasons. You seem to have it sussed. snowHead Yes, for anyone not tied to the ghastly Saturday comings and goings, it's the best day on the slopes.

littleblue, Season no.5 as a snowbum - good work (or good not work as the case seems to be)! I agree that it doesn't have to cost a fortune. I'm hoping to get another season in next year (or certainly a few months worth).

littleblue, friend of ours spent transfer days last season walking about the airport dressed as a penguin and frightening small children. This paid him 100€ plus lunch.

Not surehow he's going to describe this activity on his cv. Laughing

hels_t, how much does normally cost you for your season? Where have you been going? The same place each time or a different one. I'd like to hear about your 5 seasons. I take it you save up the money in the summer months for the whole winter?
