OK, there's been an awful lot of discussion on whether wearing helmets is right, wrong, indifferent, should be advocated, not advocated, rammed or not-rammed down peoples throats/onto their heads (or elbows ), so here you are - the chance to for us all to assess whether, as a group, we do or don't wear them. Don't forget all the why's and wherefors are being done on the other thread - lets keep it to the vote here eh? (Well, it's an earstwhile thought - but I know this place ) Ray Zorro is going to shift this to the piste for me so you might want to wait until it gets there before leaping in - Edit: Thanks Ray, vote away folks

Megamum, i think there's an option missing. I don't wear one but "wouldn't catch me..." isn't right. I just don't wear one - how about a simple "no"

I wear mine all the time, but wouldn't say I need it all the time.
I just prefer it to a hat tbh.

Too complicated.
Should have been: always, never, sometimes. Leave all the fake "motivations" out.
I didn't vote, "when I feel like it" is missing. Could at least use a "None of the above" option.

Started using a helmet when I started to dabble on the Darkside, now the kids are skiing n boarding it's an example I have to set.
Primarily I wear one coz I'm self employed and if I bang me heed and am off work I am up the creek without a paddle.

Good try, then. I'm not good at being funny. So when in doubt, I always remind myself "Less Is More".

Once you actually have one, not wearing it becomes stupid. I'm not risking my second favourite organ.

Cunners, It can be uncomfortably hot, it reduces peripheral vision and muffles hearing. If you're spending as much time looking behind you and up the hill, teaching for example, the benefits are negligible and the disadvantages are a pain in the proverbial. Wearing a helmet is about managing risk as best you can - if you are at very little risk of an injury which a helmet would prevent/reduce and there are some noticeable disadvantages it become foolish to wear one.

thefatcontroller,
It seems rather unlikely although not impossible that someone will ski into my head. I don't wear a helmet when walking the streets or crossing the road with all the poor drivers though either.

Cripes, the arguments don't just go round and round, they creep from thread to thread, and circulate on each one. How is it possible for so many people to say so many of the same things so many times?
