nessy, I presume/hope you did leave the waxed ski to fully cool (60-90mins) before you re-ironed with the kitchen roll?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Well I have to service the full family set before we go on holiday the weekend after next so I will do a proper job then
Out of interest I have been hot scraping instead of using base cleaner. How much should you let the wax dry before scraping. I have been scraping as quickly as possible.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

nessy, Base cleaner is a no-no & should only be used for degreasing a repair site & cleaning scapers.
For hot scrape cleaning you scrape straight away while the wax is still hot/liquid(ish). Then apply your Zoom & iron in, which is easy after a hot scrape clean as the ski is still hot, then leave to fully cool. Dominator say leave their Zoom for 90 mins. You don't need to hot scape clean every time you wax - I do mine every 3/4 weeks of use.

good point, i used to leave wax on the edges to stop them from rusting but was told by a ski tech that is a real bad idea and actually the wax traps water and causes rust not prevents it. much better to scrape off wax from edges then apply notwax.

Time to come clean. I used both pairs of skis last Sunday and the pair which had been scraped and brushed was noticeably better. That Dominator Zoom really takes some shifting

nessy, not surprised. Proper scraping, cleanout brushing, and polish brushing can make almost any wax better than the best wax*, unscraped or unbrushed. The exceptions generally involve Dendix or polar wax.
* best for stated conditions.
