Might be nice to have a thread were we can consolidate links to good sources of instructional videos. Please no racing, crashes or stoke... ideally links to original sources as opposed to youtube copies. a few i like...

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

skimottaret, I think this is a brilliant idea - consolidate the stuff where we can easily find it. Also, I like the idea of a brief description, identifying rough level aimed at and point of the video as you have done.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

really good idea, but have you seen the Warren Smith DVDs, they're crackers for technique, I have them all, just bought dvd 4 at the ski show last weekend - worth every penny
innerspaceservices, i bought the 3rd one and although i really liked it the disc went funny on me and doesnt play properly so cant review. is the 4th one worth it?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

yeah, I think it is the best, actually it took a couple of years for Warren to bring it out because he had compiled the video and then had his car raided, the only footage he had left was uncompiled or edited and had to start again - shame huh. all them tackle the technique differently. I went on his week long course and I can't believe how many things there is to do with just carving.
"The way to better skiing" Learn how to ski through 11 professional teaching videos. Six of the best Danish ski instructors shows skiing for all levels in all terrain. Lasse Lyck, Klavs Klavsen, Rasmus Lundby, Tue Bak, Martin Hulten and Pernille Hornhaver.
I'm not at all sure about the commentary, but find the pics worth watching.
Italian language unfortunately but some very nice demos from basic up to advanced levels

VERY good. Thank you.
snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

A useful thread.
So much easier to take in than written instructions.
I have one of the Warren Smith DVDs - which is good.
I also recommend the 'In Deep' 'In Deeper' series. This is aimed at people who have a few years experience and want to eliminate bad habits or move off a plateau. The style is different too. The mouthy old git getting the advice has as much say as the poor little instructor. This will either entertain or infuriate. I enjoyed it. There is a similar series on snowboarding.
Clips used to feature on SkiTV. I am not sure if they are available elsewhere. These DVDs are on special offer at the moment in the SCGB online shop.
Have I missed something with Bend Ze Knees ? I do not pay much attention because written advice is not my thing. However, it seems an essential element of a ski forum - especially if there are recommendations for ski schools, instructions etc.
I assumed SZK moans were just a bit of mischief-making, or have there been controversial threads that I am totally oblivious to ?
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

why not ask him on the threads where he has little dramatic moments?
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

I have all the Skier's World programmes from the Travel Channel featuring him on my pvr, I could grab his tips from those and upload them somewhere if people are interested?

jonm, that would be very helpful. I've seen a few of them and they are good (although one of them did leave me a bit surprised at what he was recommending!).
Yeh the "tug on the handlebars" one always confuses me - it would be good to get other people's perspective on some of them. I'll try and get them done tomorrow.
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

jonm, nice one, that would be useful and if you are able it would be god to edit out the commercial intros
After all it is free

Crikey, I didn't realise video editing was that difficult

skimottaret, Thanks, I was going to suggest one of these threads as I have my first two planker lesson at MK coming up. Can you recommend a day one link that helps visualise bothersome first stages?

saxabar, hmmm... most of the stuff i have seen is "tips" for post beginners, havent really seen a first timers type one. a good DVD was done jointly by the ski club GB and BASI but i dont think it is online.. the details are here http://basi.org.uk/info.aspx
perhaps you could poke around a bit and find a copy.
You know it makes sense.

not really instruction but here are loads of clips on ski specific exercises by an Olympic Gold Medal winner If you thnk you are fit look at some of these
A few drills being done well here. I've posted it on another thread before.
skimottaret, interpreted as follows
:10 he goes into an Ollie with his tips raised (a Nollie is with tails raised)
:20 not sure perhaps he refers to as Novegians (we use that term for pole planting with both pole tips on the same side)
:25 i would call that a hopping charleston
:29 Swedish turns
:47 Fast Charlestons

An instructor tried to get us to do them once!! I managed a few in a row and thought I was the dog's danglies - then got the tips tangled and did a perfect face plant. The ski class laughed
I would SO love to be able to do sweeping carved turns touching my hand on the snow. Practice, practice practice.
