Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Off piste groups

Hi helpful people. We have previously managed to get our off piste fix via the instructor led skiing with ski club but their dates with New Gen don't work with us this year. We are intending to go to France but happy to go anywhere if anyone can recommend locations and companies that do off piste ski groups (as we can't afford private sessions). We can't do UCPA as the kids are coming too. Snoworks is an option but ideally we don't want to do the whole week. Any suggestions very welcome. Thanks

How many is "we"?

if there's a few, you could hire a guide?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There is a company that operate out of St Anton called Piste to Powder. I have been out with them a few times and find them very good. Cost is about 150 Euro for the full day as far as I can remember.

Top Ski in Val d'Isere used to do off piste group lessons for the same cost as regular lessons. They don't look to still be in business but other companies may have taken up the same model of operation.

....and we at TDC (www.tdcski.com) here in Val d'Isere and Tignes have off piste clinics running for (usually) 3 mornings. They can run for longer and I suppose we are a similar sort of vibe as Snowworks when it comes to off piste type things!

ESF in Les Menuires do an off-piste group that's the same price as regular group lessons - like 240 euros for 6 days. I did one day then switched back to on-piste as it was more like a guided off-piste class for people that could already ski off-piste. I was looking for someone to teach me to ski off-piste. The instructor was super nice and they defiantly got about as we crossed paths quite a bit when I'd switched back to the usual level 4 on-piste class. If you can already ski off-piste I'd say it's a really good option. They were all pretty decent off-piste skiers in the group so they covered a lot of km each morning - once they'd got rid of me...

Another vote for Piste to Powder. Done 2 days with them, in different years. They will call up more guides if the market is strong. One day there were 8 of us, the other, 4.
