Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sometimes, you just get it right: Champorcher, Aosta Valley 27/01

Over the past few days, a storm had been forecast to hit Aosta from the SE. Since it had been at least 5 days since our last confirmed face shot, Andanotherthing, Fifiskis, the Rabbit and I were keen to benefit as much as possible so we decided to put some effort in. Last night, as the storm reached Aosta, we checked several forecasts and were pretty confident the bulk of the snow would hit east of us on the Piedmont border. Given it was hammering it down with rain in Aosta all night and we had spent yesterday afternoon in 8 ins of fresh in Pila, it was quite difficult not to just go to Pila again...

Combing the forecast with live rainfall/snowfall data and following an earlier tip off, the plan was set: Champorcher it was. I’ll admit to feeling a little apprehensive having dragged an ill Rabbit out of bed before dawn only to look up at the low snow line and caked trees in Pila as we packed the car...we need not have worried. It turned out Champorcher had been caked and it was full of Ski racers; none of whom seemed that interested in the 30 to 40cm of cold pow that had fallen with no wind...🤘😬

We had a bit of company with a few local freeriders but basically it was fresh tracks all morning snowHead

The sky and light was pretty spectacular in the morning. This is the view looking NE across the Aosta valley towards Alagna.

@pleasehelpme, A classic Valle d'Aosta small resort. 2 main lifts plus some a tow and small chair. Lovely.

Good ski touring potential.
