Help choosing goggles for my daughter

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi everybody.
At the minute I am laid up having just come out of hospital after heart surgery.
For the next six weeks I am going to find it difficult to get too far out and about, cannot drive for instance.
I am looking to get my daughter some new goggles. Pretty high spec but must integrate with her helmet very well.
Her helmet is an Atomic Affinity LF Small. My plan was to take the helmet to the shops and check and choose some. No chance now
I was thinking along the lines of Smith I/os, Oakley Flight Deck XM and Dragon X1s.

Has anybody any suggestions as to small (er) frame hi spec goggles that would be good and integrate well with her helmet please?

Kind regards

DJ

Iíve always been a massive Oakley fan, as their optics are great and I had an issue with the foam tear on My Crowbars (4 years old) and they sent me a replacement goggle for free! Just upgraded to the Flight Deck. Donít think thereís much better out there!!

The Airbrake could be a shout as well as the lens change system is brilliant and while more expensive, normally comes with a poor weather lens.

My Daughter has found getting small enough goggles difficult. She ended up with Oakley FD XM, which look quite big, but are very comfortable and fit well.

She went with the Prizm Saphire (very similar to Torch and Jade), as a Lens that will cover 80% of conditions, with a slight bias to brighter conditions. The Prizm Rose should also work in most conditions (bias towards flat light conditions).

My holiday is looking in doubt (27/01/1Cool but we were travelling to Alpe díHuez and from what I have read a lens that favours the bright conditions would be an advantage.
She loves pinks though

@Drunkenjoiner, The Prizm Hi-Pink exists, but imo not flexible enough....as really designed for overcast to whiteout.

The Prizm Rose does not have the reflective Iridium coating.

The Prizm Saphire is a lovely colour of Blue (which is why my daughter chose it)....and would be, along with the Jade/Torch, my suggestion, based on your requirements.

I have a tiny head and therefore a tiny helmet, and find the Oakley flight deck XM fit fine. They are still large, but the fit is good enough that the foam still seals properly on my face. Jade Prizm is a pretty versatile lens and should be fine. Sapphire and torch are the same lens with a different colour coating - sometimes you can get a particular colour cheaper than the others if thatís a consideration, or get the torch if she likes pink!

I've just ordered from Freeze Pro Shop - they've got a 5% off when bought together option.
They have the XM with sapphire lens for £140, and rose prizm for £53. Add the discout and you're £184

I've just got a pair of Salomon Women's Sense goggles with the photo lenses. They fit my narrow head well. I used them for the first time today in heavy snow and was impressed.

@Drunkenjoiner, Whichever you go for, it's worth checking that you can obtain replacement lenses in case of breakage or as an additional option. Most of the specialists do this, but some of the cheaper ones will have to be chucked out and replaced entirely.

Have a look at summit goggles - really easy to change lenses. Iíve a very small head and the smaller frame size fit perfectly with my ski helmet.

Hi, I use Uvex Commanche goggles, which come with two different lenses, one base lens which is great for low light, and a second lens that sits over the base lens and is held on by magnets. I have a number of different lenses that I can use, one mirror silver, one mirror blue and one pink prism - each have different light qualities, and of course its great to be able to swap lenses over to go with different outfits (ok, its a girl thing! lol) or to cope with different light conditions. Once peeled off, the second lens just slips into a soft case and fits in my inside pocket.

I have a fairly small head and wear a childs racing helmet and the goggles fit perfectly.

Happy hunting.
