Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Travelling as a group of 4 in late January - Arrive Monday, depart Friday. Train seems to be the obvious choice but it this fairly straight forward with luggage and skis? Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated Puzzled

There is a direct public bus service. Takes a while as it stops everywhere but a very pleasant scenic route, cheap and plenty of space for luggage in the boot. I think oebb.at has the details.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'd have thought by public transport you'd be best going via Lofer (through Germany) which would also I guess be the best option for a taxi/hire car too.

@Avago, bus or private taxi (http://www.taxizell.at at €130 each way) is easier than train, as the station is in the centre of Salzburg and the airport isn't. You can get a bus to the station, then a train with a possible change at Schwarzach-St Veit, but it takes longer than the direct bus due to the changes, and if you are carrying skis then it would be fairly painful.

Direct bus is €13.50 each, bus & train is €17.10 each. If you then needed a taxi at the other end to get your luggage from the Bahnhof or Postplatz to your accommodation, the direct taxi becomes much easier and about 20 minutes quicker. The taxi also has a choice of routes, so can work around queues - though Monday and Friday should be quiet.

Would any of you kind people be able to give me a 'rough' idea how quickly baggage appears in the arrivals hall at Salzburg Airport? We are due to land at 10.05 next Monday morning. Taking the bus seems to be the simplest route but don't fancy hanging around for a few hours when we could be hitting the slopes Smile

On a weekday, it will probably be there by the time you get to the baggage area. On a Saturday, could be 10-15 minutes.

@ousekjarr, Thank you. There's a good chance then that we could get the 10:55 O-bus to Salzburg Aiglhof S-Bahn Toofy Grin
